Altieri Homes

Uh yeah, Altieri is going out of business. They are a disaster, we will never build another home with them. Empty promises, move in dates that took years, not months, shoddy craftsmanship and yup we also had garbage buried around the home and our lot was not graded to code! Wood floors have gaps, everything is out of plum, drywall looks like a five year old put it up, paint was done by the two year old crew and oh the windows were not even, plus we had a leak over the garage just recently. The sons Daren and Greg both need muzzles since they can not address anyone with respect. The poor father has to put up with these two train wrecks, god bless him. i agree completely with jp....couldn't have said it better.....i bought a home from them and was promised things in front of workers that were never given to me by the builder himself (Daren). The brothers seem to have steered the father away from my house because when he saw the condition of my house, he said (this is after I had been living in it for a year) that we never should have been allowed to move into it. He also asked why he hadn't done his walkthrough on the house...apparently the one son didn't want him to see the condition of my house....I've been in my house for almost 2 years and still, I have not had my walkthrough list completed from the day of settlement nor have i had my 6 to 9 month checkup list done. The real kicker....i used to sell for them and this is how they treated me....from what i understand this experience is common across ALL of their developments. Where do I begin. First of all I am thanking GOD that this whole thing fell through for me after 8 months of waiting when I read the other reviews. I have supressed most of what happened, mainly because I need to move on. However, I will say this: Altieri will say or DO anything to get you to sign. I was pressured to sign the contract after I specifically said I needed time to think about it. I was made to feel like a loser, but I still pushed for more time. Finally after 2 weeks and some promises from Altieri's lackey, I signed. After 12 closing dates (and yes I took the day off from work for each) I finally said forget it. I had been packed for 3 months living in a tiny apartment waiting to move to my dream home. I needed to buy a home and it was obvious to me that I was never going to get the one I had signed on 7 months prior. I do not know how the LENDER figured out or knew I had been looking for another house (I think she was lucky at the guess) but when this happened they skewed my NEW good faith estimate. She told me now my payment would be $2400 instead of $1700 (for a 3 bedroom townhouse, really?) . ANyway, long story short, I found out they had offered me something illegal and the minute they found out I knew it was not legal they promised me back my deposit because suddenly THAT day they had found a buyer. However it took MANY threats to get that deposit back. Good luck to those of you who have yet to get a home or your deposit, but I would say getting out of that (even if I were to lose my deposit) would have been WORTH IT. I thank God every day. Same experience here as the other guys. It seems like Altieri is gaining notoriety among current homeowners who bought homes from them. I want to make sure they don't victimize other people. My wife and I have had a horrible experience with Altieri since we bought a home from them. The house was not properly turned over and Altieri did not provide a proper walkthrough. They have not paid utilities whilst they occupied the property and we had to pay 3 months' worth of utility payments to clear our name. They did not honor the warranty on the house so we had to pay for repairs. The purchase contract included a washing machine and dryer. Alteri refused to provide both. Despite numerous calls, email and letters, Altieri never responded. We are just ordinary citizens who have purchased the home from them in good faith. They should be held accountable and be penalized for unethical and horrible business practices. Cons: everything more

Altieri has been nothing but trouble for me. I've built a house before with another pa builder and figured I'd have such a great experience again so I'd build. Well, I was more than wrong. Altieri is completely disorganized. They do not care about their customers after the contract is signed. I made the mistake of settling on the house without all items completed. So, now 13 months later I'm still waiting. Also, warranty items that were supposed to be fixed after 6 months I am still waiting on after 13 months. It is completely ridiculous. You cannot get ahold of anyone for any reason. They know how crappy of a job they are doing....so they are running away from it it seems. It seemed like such a great company in print. And, it is so disapointing how horrible they are in action. The owner (their father) would be horrified at what they've done with the good name he started. They should be ashamed. But, they don't care. That's the problem. I have filed with B B B and State's attorney. Please also submit a complaint to the ABC 27 call for action. I just heard from them (very reponsive) not even a week after filing.....let's all get together and do something about this!!!!! Cons: quality, customer service, organization more

We have had the same situation as Grey. We signed a contract in October and our house has not been worked on since March. We have tried contacting Altieri since then through every means I can think of with no results thus far. I do have a complaint submitted with the PA Attorney General's office and hopefully since our nine months are up, we will be able to get our deposit. I did learn that they stopped paying their sales managers so none of the managers listed on their website currently work for Altieri. It's unthinkable to me that a company like this can still be in existence! Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

At least some of the other reviewers actually got a house. I know there are several other buyers, including myself, who have signed a contract, given deposits, and yet there has been NO progress on building our homes for MONTHS now. I mean NO work being done, period - no crews working, nothing. Attempts to contact Altieri to obtain status on what the heck is going on by phone and email are completely ignored. However, if you contact them through the Attorney General's Office, they are quick to respond that nothing is wrong and that there are just ""delays."" Funny they can't respond to the buyers with that same response. At this point we just have to wait out the 9 months they have build our home from the signing date (as stated in our contract) and when that is not completed we'll have to pursue some sort of legal action (I'm sure) to get our money back. Once Altieri has the contract, the buyer is ignored. In my community in Dover, buyers in their homes a year have not had the 6 month inspection done, and have had no issues resolved. Altieri employees do not answer the phones, and rarely bother to answer emails. They have let go the ONE employee, Tom, who was taking care of the punchlist issues, so now it's up to the workers building the new homes to go back and fix issues. Fat chance on that happening. I was told they have their hands full building the new homes, so the ones already sold fall through the cracks. Horrible way to run a business since we have already paid our money in good faith. IT HELPS TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE PA AND MD ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AS WELL AS other organizations like this. Buyers in my community are also meeting to talk about a filing against Altieri. There is power in numbers and we all need to remember that. This company should not be in business and in numbers we can help that happen. Cons: Horrible service. more

We live in Susquehanna Ridings Dvlpmnt in etters for 3 yrs now. The trim blew off our house the other day. When we called someone to fix it (not Altieri), we get the usual ""this is the worst job we've seen"". They told us there was no flashing around our entire roof line. I lay in bed everynight wonder if my house will still be standing the next day. Here is a MINOR list of what we have endured:a leaky basement plus 1yr, a leaking roof for 2+ yr, mold in our gargage within months, the dryvit washed off the front of the house, our lawn mower has broken down several times because of rocky land, toilets are always backing up, two bathrooms get frozen pipes in the winter, the drywall story....way too complicated to explain, I think they forgot how to use a tape measure as little is lined up...tray ceilings, cabinetry. THINKING OF BUYING...JUST DRIVE DOWN LOOK AT THE SIDING JOBS IN OUR DVLPMENT...OUR NEIGHBORS SIDING ACTUALLY BLEW OFF HIS HOUSE AFTER 3 YRS .....DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID. more

jimmy can i borrow your sign, i have had alot of the same problems in my home. The customer service from them is ridiculous. They should not be allowed to build homes anymore. Save your money there are quality builders out there and this is not one. more

Altieri Homes offers some great floor plans. Unfortunately their workmanship and service leave a lot to be desired. My house was suppose to have 400 AMP service, they only put in 200 AMP. It was only due to an Altieri workman doing my six month follow up that this was pointed out to me. Over time I noticed trim work that did not line up as well as trim work not put in per spec in my bedroom's tray ceiling, beams in the basement without proper support, I had a leak in my fireplace which took numerous conversations and drastic measures to have fixed, windows not properly flashed which were eventually fixed. (However I have seen two other homes built w/o flashing), leaky windows (three to be exact in the powder room, the stairway and a dining room window in the rear of the home), hundreds of nail pops as the home settled, terrible quality drywall work, the door jams were not painted behind the hinges, garbage buried in my flower beds, cement poured off into the yard keeping the grass from growing in spots. I have pictures of the cement pieces I pulled from the yard. Cons: This comapny couldn't care less about it's customers. more
