Allure Color Specialist

Regrettably, this was the worst experience I've ever had in a salon. My stylist did a great job with the color - there is no doubt about that. The interior of the salon is beautiful and Huong is a great colorist. They failed to mention additional charges for services that were quite costly and not nearly worth the service I received. I was expecting ~$100 bill and it was nearly double when I checked out. Highly recommend reconfirming prices upon arrival. more

Pros - * Best haircut I've ever had! * RALPH ROINA - super friendly and born to cut hair * Took me after hours - I made an appointment late in the day and he stayed for an hour after the shop closed so that he could cut my hair. * My friends are RAVING about my haircut! * Very affordable (compared to what I've been paying for a good haircut) Cons - * I live in Walnut Creek, CA and really can't afford to go to Charleston every 2 months to get my hair cut. But if you are lucky enough to live there or travel there often, DO NOT MISS SEEING RALPH. He seriously gave me the best haircut of my life! more

I have a summer home in Charleston and while shopping on King Street walked into Allure Salon. I was greeted by Jill who told me about all services that Allure had to offer. I just wanted my hair Blown and she introduced me to Ralph. Ralph took the time to discuss how I liked my hair to look. He did a great job and I made another appointment for a haircut. Best cut ever!! I found a wonderful Salon and will be returning to Ralph on a regular basis more

I moved to Charleston in February and knew that I needed a good colorist right away. I asked my makeup artist whom he would use. He looked at my hair, looked at my personal style and then said, ""Christine Piontek at Allure"". I have not been to anyone else and I don't plan to. Christine ""restores my hair to its natural color"" regularly. And, when people say, ""You color your hair? really?"" I just smile. It looks so good and so natural that I shouldn't be writing the world about my colorist. But, I cannot keep a secret this good...the world needs to know. more

My friend and I both went to Christine with over processed blonde hair. She made our hair look amazing and natural. She is an expert at blondes and I would recommend her to anyone who wants natural, beautiful blonde hair! She made not only the color look wonderful but the texture of our hair improved as well. She is very helpful and wants to help you improve your hair. Thanks Christine for saving us!!! more

This was my first time at allure and I will definately be going back. I saw Christine and told her to do what she wanted to fix my horrible brassy blonde. It turns out that blondes are a specialty of hers and my hair looks amazing! It actually complements my skin tone and looks so natural. Also the cut was precise and fantastic. Allure truly is the color specialist. more

I wasn't very impressed with Allure Salon. My stylist was incredibly personable and the front desk was sweet. But my color faded after 3 weeks and my cut didn't help my thin hair. Even though, I had a groupon, it wasn't worth the money. I wouldn't go back and truly wish I could get a refund. more

Had a great experience with Megan. I usually go to a salon in Mt. Pleasant, but the last time I was there my stylist kept checking the clock as if she couldn't wait to leave and she barely spoke to me. This was supposedly the ""top"" stylist. I purchased the groupon for Allure and thought I'd give it a try. I always worry that I'm going to be looked down upon when I go to a high end salon, but this was not the case at all at Allure. When I went in to make my appointment, the girls at the front desk were very friendly. It was very easy to find an appointment time that worked for me. Upon arrival for my appointment I was offered wine or another beverage. I didn't have to wait long at all for Megan. Before doing anything she asked what I'd like done to my hair. I explained what issues I was having (she actually came around to the front of the chair and listened to me) and she helped suggest what would work for my hair. The cut was great! It's been a few days and I think it actually looks even better now (and it's not because of my styling - it's the cut!!). This may sound silly, but one of the things I appreciated about the salon was that both times I went in, I could hear the stylists talking to their clients about their hair - making suggestions on what would look good, how to maintain the look, when to come back for touch ups, etc. It was clear that the stylists at Allure truly care about what they do. I will definitely go back. It would have been worth the money even without the groupon! more

I went to a Salon in another part of Charleston to have my hair colored darker. I had some blonde highlights but wanted them covered up and just go with dark. Well, they REALLY messed it up. I had highlights you could still see but were some strange color I don't even know the name of. The ends of my hair were a black/purple type color. They knew they screwed up but no way were they touching my hair again.\r My girlfriend I was visiting suggested Jimmy. She has beautiful hair and should have listened to her the first time. I sat in his chair, barely able to look at myself. I just told Jimmy to fix it. Whatever he could do. i just wanted dark hair. One color. Well He fixed that mess and made me very very happy. He even added low lights which I knew nothing about. It looks great. He cut it also and I have NEVER been happier with my hair. I WILL travel the hour it takes to get to Charleston from my city. Never again will anyone but Jimmy touch my head!!! It is FABULOUS!!!!!!! more

Amber did an absolute fantastic job. I wanted to brighten my highlights/color and she knew exactly what to do and talked me through the whole process. If she thinks your hair needs to be cut more than you request she will tell you to make sure your hair is as healthy as can be. She told me what to do in the future to save money when maintaining my color. I have received so many compliments on how natural my color looks and it has been 4 weeks and people are still asking me if I got my hair cut. I definitely recommend booking with Amber! more

I had someone at another Salon highlight my hair. ORANGE it was. Horrible. I refused to let them do anything else to it. They said they could fix it but NO WAY. I heard about what a great hairstylist Jimmy was. I went in very unhappy. When I left?? I was in heaven. He knew exactly what to do and did it. It's beautiful. I will never go anywhere again. Only Jimmy now. He rocks!!!!! more

Amber is a true artist! When I go there I give her 1 or 2 ideas and just let her figure it out. It always turns out better than I thought it would... every time! She's always up on the latest trends too which is why I love my haircut more and more each time I leave. more

After just walking into the Salon without an appointment I was introduced to Ralph who has just moved here from Ct I had the best experience ever He really listened to me since I am very fussy about my cut I felt he really spent the time with me to make me happy and look fantastic. His years of experience really shows. I wiil certainly tell my friends. Only one problem once the word gets out about Ralph I will be waiting in line to get an appointment! more

I naturally had medium brown hair, absolutely gorgeous, until my friends convinced me to buy a box of dye and darken my hair a few shades.....it came out JET BLACK. It looked like bp had an oil spill on my head....like I was wearing a halloween wig....it was horrible. I called allure and told them my problem and they told me to come in as soon as I can so they can have a consultation with me. They said I would need to have the black stripped and my hair redyed and they would throw in a conditioning treatment and a trim all for about $125. BUT here's the best part.... The color of my hair after having the black stripped was just about PERFECT if not better than what it was before! I couldn't believe it! So instead of redying, Megan just added some toner and gave me the best cut , conditioning treatment, color, and my hair has never looked so amazing. I went from Vampira to hair model ;) and all for only $90 plus a very nice tip (it was even cheaper than initially thought). Loved them and loved the experience and Megan Harris for performing magic and will definitely be back! more

I absolutely love this salon! It's not even a convenient trip for me to get there but I refuse to go anywhere else. The people also make it a great atmosphere. Everyone that works there is really down to earth and friendly and know what they are doing. Ralph is the best I go to him he is my favorite!! Every time I go in I leave with exactly what I wanted. Overall, this is a great salon and Ralph is great at what he does. more

I had some seriously messed up coloring done to my hair by another stylist and Amber saved the day. I went from hardly being able to look at myself in the mirror and not being able to stop. I love her work. She'll make anyone look like a super model. I would highly recommend her. more

We were traveling by boat through Charleston the week before Christmas and badly needed a makeover. Based on another reviewer's comments, I asked for Christine. She's great and I walked out a new person -- she did a fantastic job both with color and cut. Only wish I could take her with me to the Bahamas as my personal hairdresser! On the way back north in the spring, I'll be sure to make another appointment. more

I love allure salon! I have lived in Charleston for over 17 years and have been to many different salons. Allure has been my favorite and only salon for almost 3 years. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful, it is a pleasure to be pampered here. I highly recommend allure salon to get your hair done. Andrew is the only person that I trust with my hair, however all the other stylist run a close second. If you are looking for a new stylist definitely choose one from here. more

I walked into Allure with solid white blonde hair and an outdated cut. Christine worked her magic and gave me beautiful natural blonde hair with low-lights and high-lights. It is so dimensional and I have gotten so many compliments! Stylists usually whack away at my cut and Christine transformed it into something chic and manageable that fit my face shape. I will definitely be coming back! more
