Allure Color Specialist

I recently moved to Charleston and found Allure Salon by walking down King Street. Andrew was my stylist and he was phenomenal . Before hand I was a dark brown and I explained to him I wanted something vibrant and fun, I ended up walking out a fiery hot red head. I don't think I will ever change my hair color now. Andrew also recommend some fabulous products that helped me recreate the look at home. Over all I would give Allure five stars for a magnificent experience, call and book your appointment as fast as you can :) more

Wow, I actually came to citysearch tonight to give compliments to Allure for a job well done today. I was shocked to read the last review from 714shann. Andrew also cut my hair today and everything - start to finish - was completely professional! Andrew was personable and super knowledgeable, everything I asked for, he was able to do flawlessly. The cold beer was a bonus, too! I've also been in high-end salons for the past 15 years and I can tell you without a doubt that I have NEVER had a better experience. I also appreciate the fact that they are in the heart of downtown Charleston and have a huge parking lot for customers. I pulled right in today, no problem. Of course, I was on time for my appointment but that's another story... Andrew has cut my hair going on 2 years now. I have and will refer everyone I know to Allure to sit in Andrew's chair. I actually have to book my appointments in advance with him these days b/c his appointments are filling up. There's a reason for that... Don't pay attention to the bad apple. Allure is the best salon in town!! more

I drove 1.5 hrs to get my hair done here. I was running 5-10 mins late especially because there were only 2 parking spots for the entire salon (they told me to park in the church spots that clearly states they will tow). I gave the salon a courtesy call to let them know. When I arrived they were welcoming of a new client and offered refreshments, but I waited 35 mins for my stylist, Andrew. When greeted he did not acknowledge the time let alone apologize for making me wait. Then I proceeded to tell him what I wanted, but he just toned my highlights probably because he knew he was running out of time. I usually speak up, but considering they are ""color specialists"" I trusted their name/ claim to fame and let him do his own thing. The cut was mediocre. I have long hair and was looking for some chunky layers and he just cleaned up my existing layers and didn't even ask where I wanted them to start. I was extremely disappointed when he finished cutting my hair and told me the asst was going to blow dry my hair. I hadn't even seen the cut or the color and he was already moving on to the next client. My thoughts are that one who provides a service should always make sure the customer is satisfied before moving on. Terrible form in customer service and unprofessional. I then asked the asst to style my hair with some waves and she didn't know how. It sounds ridiculous and you probably won't believe me but she tried to curl one strand of my hair 5 times before I said forget it because I didn't want anymore kinks in my hair. Andrew then saw I was walking out with straight hair and attempted to give me a quick fix with motion lotion. It was a nice attempt, but wasn't what I wanted. I've lived is Boston and CA where high-end salons are a dime a dozen so I've been exposed to some talented people and have high expectations. I expected the same from Allure and Andrew since they were priced similarly as a high-end. Good news is they were polite and the location is great. more

I happened to be checking out this site and saw one of my favorite places...Allure. \r \r I've only been there 3 times (only because I live in Ladson and it is not really convenient for me), but I had the 3 best haircuts/stylings of my life.\r \r While I know a number of the stylists there, if was a pleasure to be put in the hands of Andrew. My last session with him was 2 days before our daughter's wedding. He made me look great for one of the most important days of my life and I got numerous compliments!\r \r I look forward to my next visit.\r \r \r \r more

Haliley is the best stylist ever to touch my hair. The only problem we ever had was when the color she used wouldn't take on my hair and she fixed it at no cost of course. She has a great personality and a great eye for color and style. I look forward to my visits with her and suggest her to all my friends. Everytime I leave Allure I look awesome!!!! more

I didn't know my wavy-ish hair could be curly until Jimmy started cutting it. No one else I've been to has cut my hair right for the thickness and irregular wave that it has. What Jimmy does seems basic, but no one else has done it right--he lightens the heavy layers, evens it up it makes my hair fall like it should. He's been doing this for quite a while and really knows his stuff. I'm a no-blow-dry, minimum effort person, and this cut has been perfect for me. I go every time I'm in town. My experience at Allure was fantastic! Greeted by the friendly staff and was then escorted to my stylist's chair- Jimmy. Jimmy gave me the best cut I have ever had! I have recently been back for color and saw Liz and (going from dark to light) my highlights and color are (now...!!) gorgeous. I will be back to Allure next time....xoxoxoxo Thank you! I just had the worse experience at Allure. I drove all the way from Sullivans to be greeted by stylist who didn't even know what her level was. The stylist are ranked by levels posted on a sign at reception. She claimed to have no clipper experience whatsoever and flagged down this dude to cut my hair. I just walked out. It seems like whenever I visit the stylist are pretentious.\r \r I leave for a business trip for the Middle East I'm the morning and can't believe I wasted the valuable time to visit Allure. I am sending this via Iphone while waiting at another salon down the road. They offered me a drink and are all smiles!\r \r Allure doesn't offer massage and have limited services. I noticed the other reviews are a couple years old. I think things have changed at Allure. \r \r I have worked with Kara a few times, she was good but gone for the week. I won't go back and suggest you skip the place. There are many more salons in Charleston with friendly people. Cons: Service is terrible more

I just can't say enough wonderful things about Hailey Nagel at Allure Salon. She is the best!!! After moving to Charleston from Boston last year, I have been searching for a stylist to perfect my color and have finally found her. I have had my hair 'done' at all the name places, here and in Boston. I just got so tired of the attitude, lousy service and bad results. I am constantly amazed at how wonderful of an experience this salon is. My color looks absolutely fantastic!!! It is so natural, honestly no one even thinks that my hair is colored. Little do they know the truth! I have a secret weapon - Hailey!! I wouldn't even think of going anywhere else. The best part of the experience is that it is just a really comfortable environment, with real people! I highly recommend Hailey and Allure Salon- if you want great results and no hassle. I have been going into Allure Salon for years and have always had a great experience. The staff is very attentive and always seem to have a great idea of what I am looking for. Keep up the good work girls. Pros: Staff is great. Cons: Can't really think of any. more
