TRUE PROFESSIONALS!! 7/14/2011

After moving with All My Sons Moving in Broadview, Illinois I had to share this. I can't say enough about this company! From the time I requested information online til the time the movers were leaving my new driveway it was nothing but easy for me. An upbeat estimator called me right after I asked for info on their website, was very thorough in taking my information, patient to understand my concerns (my last move went so badly that i put Eric the phone rep through the wringer by grilling him on his men/service) and it turned out to be up front and honest pricing. My last move was so bad I almost swore off moving companies entirely. So I was very apprehensive about this move. Eric took the time to give individual attention to the details that were important to me, and he referred me to their website where you can get hints for having a stress-free move, and also informed me of ways to save his men time, which saves me money. Turns out its a full service company and they can do as much or as little as you need. Ima thinking next time i'm not gonna have to pack or unpack. We arranged the move about 2 weeks in advance and I have to admit that I was still worried. Moving day came, the crew showed up on time, impressed me with their teamwork, diligence, and efficiency. I had debated with the idea of motivating the crew by saying there was a tip in it for them if they didn't screw off. Thankfully I didn't even have to, they knocked it out quickly, coming in under-budget than what i was quoted! They earned thier tip, my thanks, and future referrals. TRUE PROFESSIONALS!! more

BEST MOVE EVER!!! 6/23/2011

A great experience from the beginning! their website is pretty interactive and had plenty of helpful hints that ended up saving me some bucks. the phone rep was friendly and knowledgeable. He really took time to understand my move and line everything up correctly. Since i called a month in advance i got the start time that i wanted and was actually surprised that the movers showed up on time....(had some bad experiences with other movers). the movers were professional and courteous knowing how to handle my stuff efficiently. I had initially planned on moving the smaller items and boxes myself , letting the movers just take the heavier stuff but didn't get everything taken care of in the timeframe i had wanted. the guys helped me pack up my remaining items (even had extra packing materials on the truck) and since they work by the hour it just cost a little extra. one thing i liked was that i didn't have to unpack my dressers. they move them with the stuff still in there. like i said, the movers were professional, courteous and the total bill was less than i was originally quoted. i think they are getting a bad rap.....this was a seamless transition from beginning to end. One word of advice.....try to plan ahead and be prepared for the move, check out their website for hints - it helped my move go smoother. highly recommended! A++ experience! more

Run Run Run 8/20/2009

I scheduled a move for Sunday- August 2009. They arrived 2 hours late. 10am vs. 8am. No one called me. I missed my elevator time at the new apartment.- 10am-noon. The condo gave me a new time at 3pm. They refused to wait, so they helped the couple who was moving in. Little did I know they were going to charge me for their move too. Unbelievable. It took them 2 hours to move/ PACK my stuff at my home. Yet they were trying to charge me for 5 and a half hours- they said it took them 3 HOURS to move my stuff from the truck to the condo. Unbelievable. They were the only ones using a freight elevator, they did not unpack any of my stuff. I never saw the second helper- supposedly he was taking stuff from the elevator to the unit. Please stay clear. I tried to call on Sunday- to date, 5 days later no one has returned my call and no one answered the phone. Be warned!!!! Pros: They will move you on Sunday Cons: Late, jacked up price, no one to call more

Terrible move 10/14/2008

Working with this company has been terrible. I moved from Indy to Boston and suffered damages, tremendous stress, huge overpayments, and the loss of many possessions altogether. The company tried to charge me for ?labor? expenses beyond the ?not to exceed? contract ? twice, both upon pick up and drop off of my stuff. We?ve all been burned in moves, but this is really outrageous. They told me that they ?had? to deliver the belongings a week early (on a day that I would be out of town and my new apartment was under construction). They said they had only ONE driver who did long hauls and knew how to drive on city streets (what?) If they didn?t do the drop off that day they couldn?t say when it would happen. Construction dust aside, my family stood in to supervise the move, as I left town. Guess what? The guy who ?had? to deliver the stuff ? the whole reason we did the move a week early in the first place ? didn?t show! He sent his cousin to do his job for him. The driver arrived late and locked his keys in the cab and spent until 1:30 or 2 PM trying break into his truck with a coat hanger. We were missing a couch, a marble shelf belonging to an etagere, and 14 cartons. At least two pieces, one leather chair and one dresser, had gouges. The driver did not believe he had my armoire on his van. My mom saw it and insisted it belonged to me. But they didn?t have the manpower or hoists to bring it up the stairs. The rep at the company told my mom over the phone that they wouldn?t take responsibility for delivering it and it was left on the street. Meanwhile the driver approached my brother for payment and overcharged by some hundreds of dollars. The men did not assemble the furniture per the contract. Rather they left a partial load of my things in the construction dust, unassembled, having overcharged and tremendously inconvenienced my entire family. We have spent weeks trying to get these issues straightened out. What a pain! more

The single worst day of my entire life... 3/28/2008

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take my advice and never ever, ever consider using All My Sons Moving in Broadview, Illinois. Here comes the nightmare: I was given a window of 12-2 on a Friday afternoon. At 3, I called and was informed that the men were switching trucks and should be at our condo by 4:15. I called again and was told by a dispatcher in Dallas that they should be there soon. Then 5:15, nothing. Finally I am looking out the window and see the truck at 6:05PM. I run down to the loading dock to meet them and the nightmare began. The driver pulled up and was licking an ice cream cone and all three men where under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. I have training in substance detection and these guys were off the charts! The driver had quarter sized pupils and was grinding his jaw. One of the men was laying on the locking dock while the 3rd mover was singing. They could not maintain their balance and were out of control. I mentioned that they might not be up to the task of moving all my prized and sentimental life accumulations. The head guy slurred "why not?" I then called the home office and they were closed. They gave me a number to "the guy on duty" and he proceeded to cuss me out and tell me that the men were fine and that if I refused the drunk service of All My Sons at this time and date, he could not guarentee the return of my items. Then he told me to put my *ucking wife on the phone so he could talk to her. I said she was busy and he yelled into the phone "put her on the *ucking phone!" I hung up and he called back like a maniac and was asking why the hell I hung up on him. Then the grinding jaw driver wanted my credit card and wanted payment before they moved any items. I was in a position with no clear answer. I wanted to turn the drunk crew away, but not with all my possessions. I was trapped and allowed the move. I did half the work. They were throwing boxes in the place and they kept talking about wanting a beer. BEWARE! Pros: ZERO Cons: workers under the influence of alcohol and narcotics more

Worst moving experience ever 10/11/2007

I was quoted it would take them approximately 3.5 hours to do the entire move. They informed us they would be there at 8:00am, didn't show until close to 10am. It took the driver over 2 hours (!!!) to attempt to back the truck into the loading dock. Meanwhile the one guy who was actually good was emptying the apartment down to the loading dock. But the dock guy couldn't load the truck since the driver was still backing it in. They only had 2 wardrobe boxes when I was promised 4 free. When they finally did get the truck loaded, it took them over 3 hours to make the 2.5 mile drive to my new apartment. I had called their dispatch office 3 times in this period, each time they told me the truck was around the corner. The new building was getting concerned since they had another move scheduled right after mine and my timeframe was already expired. When the truck did finally arrive, I impatiently asked them how long they really needed to stop for lunch and they claimed that they didn't stop for it. They hastilly unloaded the truck: they did not cover any of my furniture: my couch arrived with scrapes along the top fabric, my mattresses (one-year old) arrived with numerous grease spots and 10 holes in the boxspring. My wood furniture was knicked and dirty. They scratched my glass tables by placing them on top of each other to bring them into the building. They acted inconvenienced when I requested they move the furniture to where I actually wanted it to go. Despite all of my labels on boxes and "This side up" warnings, I found many items damaged and broken and in the wrong rooms. When it came time to pay them, they wanted over $1200 for moving a 1 bedroom apartment that took them over 8 hours in addition to a tip. Luckily, their offices were still open and we disputed down to $800 and when they left, we issued a stop payment with the credit card company. 5 months later, I am still battling with them to get my claim resolved. Avoid them at ALL costs! Pros: not much at all Cons: everything more

Criminal Extortion, Misquoted Estimates and Damaged Property 12/17/2006

They did not send enough people to move my house, and the movers they did send were not adequate. Customer service never offered to come to my home to do an estimate, and gave us a quote of $800. They arrived at 9:30 am, when they were supposed to be there at 8 am. The moving guys had no directions or maps, and had to be guided by cell phone and car following to our old and new addresses. It took them seven hours to load up the truck, and it was already all packed and boxed. Once they arrived at our new address at 7:15 pm, they came into my house with the truck still loaded and demanded $100 each in cash under the table to finish the job in addition to the $1257 they were going to put on my credit card. So I had to go to an ATM and withdraw $300 before they would even unload my truck with my goods on it. We could not call the cops because they would have just took off with over $40,000 in our household goods and only were insured at $.37 a pound. The company office was closed at that point, so we were forced to pay the money. They damaged my walls, my floor, and my door jams all over, and just left everything but the furniture in my garage anyway so now I have nowhere to park my car and I still have to move all my boxes. A horrible nightmare of an experience, one that I would never suggest to anyone. more
