worst place ever... 11/13/2013

This is one of the WORST vet clinics ive ever encountered and im not sure if they are a clinic really, just a scam to make money off trusting caring unsuspecting people who need help for their pets. This isn’t just about them caring about money, they are a literal con…they will do NOTHING to resolve an issue, but just keep the owner coming back for more and more….and do nothing to help the animal. They are monsters..Once they see your pet has an issue, even a MINOR one and you have a willingness to spend money, they will price gouge you to no end. They wont diagnose the issue or resolve it, just keep charging more money, for nothing while your pet continues to suffer. They will keep wanting to do unnecessary testing unrelated to the problem. Their goal is to never resolve the problem, and have you keep coming back so they can keep making money off you. I feel like I was being conned by well skilled psychopaths. The tests never ended, the issues never resolved and not even a corre more

really bad... 9/14/2013

please beware...all they care about is adding charges to your bill nothing else. They don't care about the pet's health or finding a solution. They will prolong treatment as much as possible. Their vet techs are manipulative and will force you to take all treatment and if you refuse they make you feel like bad pet owners. This place is WORSE than banfield. They are rude and will be argumentative rather than helpful. If you even try to ask a question stating "well is this medication necessary" the vet techs will ARGUE with you and act offended and rude that you're even questioning if it's a necessity. They are manipulative and make you feel guilty for not doing what the doctor says. They only want to add more and more charges and will give unnecessary medications to the animal to add more charges to the bill. \r \r This is worse than any sales gimmick possible. This is about an animal's life and health and no vet practice should ever be doing this. An animals' health/life is NOT a sales pi more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/21/2012

Very bad experience here. My dog almost died due to their inexperience. He had to be moved to another practice because this vet did not know what to do. Caution they are inexperienced and expensive. more

Caution - READ before you go there. 8/28/2012

This facility is terrible. I took a healthy dog in for routine dental and left two days later with my dog on a stretcher clinging to life. Jessica Lannes extracted 12 teeth and left the dog unattended overnight - did not see him the next day - left him with an inexperienced vet - returned two days later and called us to tell us he needed treatment she did not have the ability to perform. He suffered heat stroke and severe dehydration after his surgery. How do you spell neglect - LANNES. Oh and by the way she followed me to the car while we placed the strecther in the back to make sure I paid my inflated bill. Jessica Lannes and Tiffany Lewis are two of the worst! Value your pets health? Then stay away from this practise. It's all about money here! more

My Experience at Alafaya Trail Animal Hospital 6/27/2011

My dog obviously loves your clinic staff. I've not had a pet so excited to go to the vet. Even with the number and intensity of her visits including surgery, stitches and long-term boarding, she is still all tail and "smiles" when we near the office. I love how friendly, helpful and willing to explain your doctors and techs are. I understand your office has little control over pricing of medicine and medical treatment, but I've spent more in the 2 years I've had my dog, than the 13 years I had my previous one. We've certainly run into more medical issues with this pound-puppy, and your staff is completely sympathetic to the issue which helps emotionally, but it certainly doesn't help when paying a $700 bill. I do appreciate the "buy some get one" deals you have on the preventative meds and the opportunities the staff takes to cut out $5 here and there when possible.\r I (and my dog) love your clinic and your staff so much that, since we moved, we still gladly commute 45 minutes to your more

Great Experience... 5/18/2011

I am shocked at some of the reviews I read here. I have nothing but praises. I took my puppy to them for vaccinations and it was a great experience. The took the time to explain the process, the costs and that I would need to come back for "boosters". This had been explained already by the breeder. In any case Dr. Lannes was great. She took the time to explained the pros and cons of "mini schnauzers" so that I could be aware of what to look for as he develops. All in all it was a great experience witha fair price tag, and a lot of one-on one time with the vet. I told my husband, I spend more time with Dr. Lannes than with my own doctor! The techs and the reseptions time were"loving" my puppy up, and it felt like they really were doing everything they could to make him feel comfortable...he still did not like the shots! more

First time visit 10/28/2010

The vet tech seemed very inexperienced and made my dog nervous - my dog has never before needed to be muzzled during a veterinary visit. I had to wait an unreasonably long period of time in the examining room before the vet (not Duprey Enrique) came in. I felt fleeced when I left. Even though my visit was for routine care, neither the vet tech nor the vet made any attempt to explain treatment options/procedures or prices in advance or even ask for permission before administering treatment (e.g., the one size fits all 'puppy package' includes tests/procedures that my dog didn't need; I was charged for services not rendered). I have lived with pets most of my life and therefore am not an inexperienced pet owner. I was talked down to as if because 'they' are the experts, I should just go along with whatever they recommend (including buying food and meds from them when such products are available elsewhere at a much cheaper price). Bottom line is that there are many, many choices of v more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE IF YOU LOVE THEM! 10/7/2010

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE IF YOU LOVE THEM! This veterinarian hospital is the worst animal hospital in all of Central Florida. If you truly love your dog, and do not want to be scammed by a "lost" vet who does not have any practical knowledge of practicing medicine, then please, save yourself the time and energy and TAKE YOUR ANIMAL ELSEWHERE. Time after time I have been lied to, and I had one bad experience after another. Too bad the minimum rating I could get this vet is one star, or else I would give this vet ZERO stars. This so called "animal hospital" will increase your prices unknowingly, and then blame your dog for getting sick while in their care! I hope this message has changed everyone's mind who has ever thought about taking their animal to this horrible vet. Spare yourself and run away fast! This vet is a complete scam! more

Horrible Vets! 8/12/2010

Horrible, horrible place. Avoid if you love your pets. Maximizing profit is their #1 goal.\r \r Spent $1700 with them for tests and then took to a second vet, where I was told my dog had cancer. He said there way no way they could have missed the signs, and the unneccessary tests they put an obviously sick dog through was kin to animal abuse. \r \r I cannot stress enough - these are HORRRIBLE VETS who don't care about animals half as much as they care about your wallet. more

Outstanding Care at Alafaya Trail Animal Hospital 1/27/2010

Can't say enough to describe the true professionals at Alafaya Trail Animal Hospital. They care about their patients and they care about their patients' owners. They are the first group I would recommend to anyone seeking a vet in the central Florida area. I've had dogs my whole life and they have offered me the most care and concern of any vet I've ever taken a dog to. They also ALWAYS follow up with a phone call the day after your pet's visit to make sure everything is okay with him/her. Trust them...they have all the proper credentials and they know what they're talking about. The entire staff is amazing. more

Not good, Not bad. 1/21/2010

Ehh....so so. I think one should find a vet he or she loves rather than one that is so so. I brought my dog there when she was old and very ill. It turned out she had cancer. I felt the care my dog got was average. The only thing I thought was great was the amount of time the vet actually spent talking with me. However, I felt like I wasnt given the recommendation to euthanize my dog until they were sure I was unable to pay more. \r \r I suspect they knew the prognosis for an old dog with those type of symptoms and lab results were dire, but they may have been holding back on telling me to pull the plug to pad the bill. It's just a suspicion, I admit. more

Great care, kind people 1/7/2010

I have lived all over the country and had pets for more than 20 years. I have been extremely impressed with everyone I have come into contact with at Alafaya Trail. My dog had been vomiting all night and I was starting to get worried so I called them. The lady on the phone was very nice and got me in that morning even though they were busy. Dr Lannes was very gentle with Star and asked a lot of questions. She needed lab tests and x-rays (which aren't cheap) but we figured out she has an irritated pancreas and needed a special diet and some medications. My visit wasn't cheap (~$500) but they figured out what was wrong and got her feeling better quickly. I was given estimates every step and they even helped me pick a food that wasn't as expensive! I would def recommend them if your pet's care is your #1 priority. more

Outstanding Care at Alafaya Trail Animal Hospital! 12/9/2009

My family has been bringing our dogs (3) to Alafaya Trail Animal Hospital since 1986. We can not say enough good things about this facility or its staff. Dr. Duprey and Dr. Lannes have been treating 2 of our pets for the last several years. We find them both extremely knowledgable, professional and extremely reasonable. They always work with their clients, explain all possible courses of treatment and related costs and when possible, they leave it up to the owner's to determine which course of treatment they feel they would like to persue. They truly care about your pets and we highly recommend them to anyone. more

Dr. Duprey at Alafaya and corrine Inexperienced 9/16/2009

Very inexperienced Doctor. I told him my dog has blood in feces. he prescribed antibiotics and deworming. After 2weeks my dog was still defecating blood and he prescribed more antibiotics and dewormer and more drugs and tried to convince me it was stress that is causing the blood in feces. I went to another hospital for a second opinion and he did a rectal palpation and felt a mass in the rectum. He tested the mass and found that it was cancer. Dr. Duprey did not even do a thorough exam and had a wrong diagnosis. Highly not recommended. Stay as far away as possible. All they do is charge high prices. Rip OFF more

Stay Away! 7/16/2009

The vet listed here is no longer with them. I would not let Dr. Lannes touch a cockroach. She does not tell you all the options for care - only the ones that cost the most money. I had to switch to the other vet at this office. They are so overpriced on everything. We attempted to get heartworm medicine at PetMeds and they REFUSED to give permission, forcing us to pay their much higher rates. Even prescription food was 50 cents a can more through them than over vets in the area. If your pets are young and healthy, you may like them. But as they age and develop problems, be prepared to pay through the nose and only hear about the treatments that make them the most money. And for that we got mediocre care. On the plus side, the vets and employees there are very nice and friendly with the exception of their office manager who should not be allowed near the public. more

Duprey - Nice. Will spend time and I think he does care. However, he ""forgot"" a quote he verbally gave me for a feeding tube of ""$40-50 but not more than $100"", which turned out to be $175 but he ""discounted"" to $125. When challenged, he ""couldn't remember"" what he said. Lannes - I don't know if she is new and doesn't have a clue or what. Our cat was ""assigned"" to her and after one appointment and several phone calls, we moved him to Dr Duprey. We had a cat that quit eating. She felt dental surgery may be needed, but refused to do anything until we paid $350 to a cardiologist to have a MRI done. She suggested nothing else. When we took him to Dr. Duprey, he put him on antibiotics, an IV, and showed us how to feed by syringe. AND scheduled dental surgery (which went fine) without the need for a cargiologist. --------- We left this facility after 7 years and thousands in payments because we were given a written estimate for surgery for a 15-year-old cat and then the presented a bill which was 75% higher ($725 vs. $414) than what was quoted IN WRITING. They offered a discount to $621 which was 50% MORE than their WRITTEN quote. I work from home; at no time did they attempt to contact me for approval nor were they given written or verbal authorization to proceed past the amount quoted. Their office manager, Sarah Jennings, said Too Bad - So Sad. Thank goodness we took him elsewhere. Found out the feeding tube they installed was MUCH TOO SMALL and totally inadequate. Also the bandage around his neck was too tight. What should have been a 5 minute feeding was taking 30-40 minutes 4 times a day because of the wrong size. By the way, while I was challenging the increased bill, someone called in complaining about their outrageous pricing. Since I left, I found that their food is 33% more than other vets and their office visits about 25% higher. For that you get people who don't know what they are doing and don't live by their WRITTEN estimates. I urge you to shop around. Pros: Nice staff (except office manager) Cons: Don't have a clue; way overpriced more

Good Vet 9/16/2008

I've been taking my cat here for a little more than 2 years, and have never had a problem. All of the staff are very nice and obviously love animals. Dr. Lannes seems to know her stuff, and I feel my cat is in good hands. I'd recommend to anyone. more
