Our flight was late and we lost our phone on the plane- we really didn't know how to contact Akamai Mother's to meet up for our car seat, but Aimee was awesome- she found us at luggage claim anyway. So thankful! Our neighbors used this service a few years ago and reccomended we try them. These guys made traveling with our little one much easier than I ever expected. Making the reservation was easy, we rented a car seat, stroller, crib and a bunch of toys for the room and the beach. I was happy to see all the equipment was well taken care of, looked very new and clean. The staff was very kind, even gave us plenty of tips on what to do while on Maui. I would recommend them highly! more

This was a horrible experience. I read positive reviews and felt good about this company until I actually began communicating with them. I submitted a form, and received an email back with a question. I promptly responded and heard nothing. I waited a few days and then called. The owner, David, was incredibly rude on the phone. He then said that obviously he couldn't deliver our products since we were ""staying in a hotel."" I was under the impression that was the point of the entire business. I would not recommend this place to anyone. more

We just had a great vacation on Maui and Akamai Mother's Rentals had a lot to do with that! We have three small children and they provided us with our crib, stroller, indoor toys, and baby monitor. Everything was waiting for us in our condo when we arrived and was in great condition. David was a pleasure to work with and very helpful with all of our questions. After reading several good reviews of this business, we decided to try and rent some baby items for my grandaughter for an upcoming trip. Because the owners are expecting a baby in July, all reservations needed to be made by July 1st. After sending a request for a quote, I called the business to secure a quote and possibly make a reservation. A voicemail was left that the owner, David had sent a quote. It was my understanding from the voicemail that a reservation could still be made for another couple of weeks. When I called again 2 days ago-the owner begin a tirade where I could not even explain to him what had happened. I was trying to explain to him that if they couldn't do it-I had alternatives-no big deal. He escalated the whole thing to a very uncomfortable situation. By the next day he had called back 5 times threatening to sue me for posting on Yelp, that I was a disturbed and vengeful person. Then a phone call to offer a free rental after I posted on Yelp that I was going to contact the Hawaii Better Business Bureau. Yesterday after 6 calls from him, I finally answered the phone when I got home from work and told him we would not accept his offe, where he proceeded into another bizarre tirade. I hung up and he called AGAIN-this time I let my husband answer and he even yelled my husband. I then called the Maui Police Dept. and filed a harassment complaint. I see he has followed up on all complaints here blaming the poster for his behavior. hmmm...-nice try. But after this many negative reviews and similarities in the posts, I think they speak for themselves. Please do not use this business-the owner is obviously unpredictable. The Maui PD may be your next phone call after trying to deal with this guy. more

We just recently visited Maui with our two children and had a great experience because of this service! They provided everything that we have at home and more. All of the equipment was waiting for us in our room when we arrived and they picked it up after we left - it was that easy. The crib, stroller, and jumperoo were like brand new too!! We've been coming to Maui for the last 5 years and use Akamai mothers every time. We have 3 kids and have rented everything from cribs to strollers to high chairs and more. Each time David meets us he is on time and has even worked around a few delayed flights throughout the years. They always deliver new, clean equipment and the prices are more than reasonable. It’s always a pleasure when planning our trip back to Maui each year knowing whatever we need for the kids will be there waiting. David always remembers us and even knew the kids names! You can’t ask for a better service when vacationing on Maui with kids. A truly reliable, friendly, and top notch operation! more

I called and David answered. I had some questions about equipment for an upcoming trip. The whole idea is I was trying to make our vacation easier and worry-free. One of my questions was if it was okay to take a walk that we usually go on that we need to be in the sand for a bit. I had remembered another rental place that had recommended using a jogging stroller if we would be in the sand. I asked him if this was ok or if we would get charged if there was any sand in the stroller. He told me that if I washed it off it should be ok. I was trying to explain that this would be no problem, we would wash it at the showers and that I always take care of my things but he had started to go off on me and said that I was more concerned if I would get charged and that i wasn't going to take care of his things and he wouldn't rent to me and hung up. I called back and left a message that this must be a misunderstanding and that he must not have heard me and that I had read so many reviews on a parents network. I asked him to call me back and start over. He called me back and told me off again, didn't let me say one word, told me he would not rent to me and hung up again. Totally rude and very upsetting to me. Is this the kind of place we should give business to? I think not. more

Not only were my toys not delivered on time, but when I called to check status on delivery, I was met with an incredibly rude and unprofessional man whose attitude was certainly not that of someone in the service industry. In the end, he acted as if I lied about when I wanted the toys dropped off. Customer certainly does not come first in this business and I would never recommend working with this company. more
