TERRIBLE Customer Service and POOR equipment! I had purchased a Groupon for Vela Shape. First, I would highly recommend you PASS on this groupon as the machine used at Aimee is sub-par and not even close to what is currently being used for this type of service. I have had similar service done at American Laser where they actually use the VelaShape machine - it heats up while using suction to burn fat and they do a temperature read on your skin. Aimee Salon's machine is a suction motion without the heat which is what is needed to help burn fat. The woman operating the machine is a mess. She could never find my record with measurements which I would point out she hand wrote in a little notebook kept in her purse. Today I showed up for my scheduled appointment and was told my appointments were canceled due to not being able to reach me. Well, NO ONE called me about my appointment today and yet the very rude owner Aimee insisted that was the case. I told her I could show her my phone records that no one called. She even began to yell while accusing me of yelling - which I clearly was not... and basically said that I missed several appointments according to her computer. I quickly pointed out that her information was inaccurate and reminded her I was there with my daughter in her soccer uniform at our last appointment. She had jumped into her Range Rover and driven off and did not return before I left the salon - which may be the reason why she hadn't updated her computer. She then threatened to call the police - I'm still trying to figure over what exactly. I've never encountered such horrible customer service. Aside from the experience with the owner - the service itself is a poor substitute for the actual vela shape. I am continuing my treatment at American Laser in Manhattan, but was hopeful about this local salon's service as it is close to my home. However, it has proven to be a waste of time and I wish I had read other reviews posted online (yelp, etc...) about this Aimee Salon. I would NOT have purchased the Groupon. I have no doubt American Express will work on my dispute and I've also emailed Groupon directly. If you are considering any Vela Shape service or purchasing a Groupon - I would strongly recommend against doing it with Aimee Salon! more

This is not really a review of the salon as it is of my fantastic hairdresser Jacky. I followed her to Aimee's a few years ago and she's the only person I allow to touch my hair. She does cute super short cuts and now that I've grown it out a bit she's given me a sleek angled bob that I adore. Unfortunately Jacky is only in on Sundays nowadays but I love it because the salon is generally empty and mercifully quiet which makes it all the more relaxing. I rarely see the rest of the staff but the ones that are there on Sunday are nice enough and the decor is really lovely and constantly being updated. Pros: pretty decor Cons: none come to mind more

I dont know the name of my ""stylist"" but he is an afican american man. He COMPLTELY DISREGARDED anything i asked him, i wanted him to keep my hair long and just add a few long layers, he chopped off 5 inches and gave me BANGS!!!! This is the WORST HAIRCUT i've ever gotten!!! He didnt listen to me at all!!!! Stay away from this salon!!! Cons: expensive, dont care about what i want, bad haircut more

I came to this salon after someone ruined my hair some where else and since then my hair has never looked or felt more beautiful and healthy. I absolutely love how everyone there does my hair, from my color to my blow-outs! they have a very talented staff so im never afraid to try someone new when my dear jose is busy. their new location is gorgeous and aimee is always very sweet and accomodating. they get a 10 on service and talent!!!!!!! Aimee salon is not only pretty to look at but the service is fantastic. Everyone is very friendly and accomodating. I've had several services done from color to massage to dying my eyelashes and I'm always satisfied. Ryan gives an amazing hair cut as well as dye job - I highly recommend him! Aimee is personable and friendly - She always has some type of special for new clients as well as current. I was treated great, got really good perks for being a good customer and I also appreciated how every staff member is always happy to help in any situation. I am moving to the city soon but will definitely make the trip to Aimee salon frequently. Pros: Sangria, coffee, kind staff Cons: none! more

to the review under me, before judging any one you should worry about yourself you sound like your 10 years old. I was at Aimee's a few days ago during their special and couldn't have been happier with the service there. The stylists are all wonderful and the new space looks beautiful. Not only is this the most beautifully decorated salon but they also have the best hairdressers. I was there to get my root touch-up and was pleasantly surprised to see how gorgeous their new location is. Everyone is super friendly and the stylists are ARTISTS! Not only did i get a complimetary hand massage while my color was being processed but i was also offered a glass of wine. they obviously get a 10 for service!! Pros: best service!!! :) more

Incredible salon period! the stylists are true artists, i had my color done by David, who made me a ""natural blonde"" :) and simona gave me the best blow-dry out after treating my hair with a mask. they made me feel great and i've gotten many compliments on my hair since. their prices are reasonable for austin st. and they are truly the best on forest hills mini 5th av. i'm definately coming back here and recommend it to everyone who wants to feel and look beautiful! p.s. the decor is to die for!!!! more

so i was recommended to this shop by my boy-friend who has been cutting his hair with david for years! i came in to get a trim but my stylist recommended that i get the brazilian treatment; it was fantastic! im a color junkie and change my color often so my hair texture isnt in the best of conditions but after the brazilian my hair is silky!!! i wouldnt have ever thought my hair would look so healthy. the process took a few hours but it was the best thing that i could have done to my hair. my boy-friend wont stop touching my hair and everyone noticed how shinny it is now. im completely in love with this place everyone is so friendly and not snobbish like some high end salons are. I have been going to this place for about a year and everytime I go I always have to wait even though I have an appointment. Nevertheless agaisnt my better judgement I booked them for my wedding. OMG..what a horrible decision was that. They made me make a down payment BEFORE I did the trial. They tried to get me to reschedule my trial and then on top of that they overcharged me for the trial and then when I was not happy with the trial they refused to give me back my downpayment ! I would strongly NOT RECOMMEND this place, they are absolutely unprofessional and unreliable. And when I made my downpayment they failed to mention I was responsible for their transportation to and from my house on the wedding day....HELLO you should tell me all your extra fees BEFORE making my deposit. Last night I decided to try Aimee's hair salon and it was the worst experience of my life, to say the least it was very disappointing. My hair stylist Ryan is the worst person that I could have dealt with. He was very abrubt and short. He asked as I sat in the chair if I was cutting my hair Ahh Hellooo this is a Hair salon is it not? I knew from that point it was all down hill.... Instead of having one on one time with his clients he worked on two at a time but gave the others much more attention than I (if he didn't want to cut my hair you should of said so instead of relying eye messages with Aimee)...which is the worst thing someone cutting your hair can do. So sorry Aimee lovers I'll stick to Bumble and Bumble it's a pleasure to pay them $175 for my hair cut because I know it's worth every penny. I was recommended by a co-worker to try this salon and since then i have completely fallen in love with it! The staff is very friendly and extremely professional. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair and i must say i have never felt more secure with my stylist. I was initially recommended to Theresa but she was completely booked so i had George cut and style my hair. I have received many compliments on my new style and i can say that they are absolutely the best salon that i have come across in a very long time considering how many salons there are on that block alone! Overall i received great service and the atmosphere was delightful. Pros: very skilled stylists:) more

I went there because another hair stylist of some other salon ruined my hair,they treated me so good that I stayed and Norma fixed my hair,she did a great job and most importantly made me feel good about myself again, I would highly recommend Norma and all the staff of this salon, They are trully professionals. Thanks!!!! more
