Poor communication! Reservation cancelled. 3/28/2012

I booked this reservation on line through Open Table in anticipation of enjoying this dining experience during my recent visit to Atlanta Georgia for the International Car Show and the Georgia Marathon. I received an e-mail on my travel date to Atlanta (March 15, 2012). Upon arrival at the hotel I went immediately to the Concierge desk to have them contact the restaurant to confirm this reservation. No one answered the telephone. The concierge left a message [in my presence] advising that I had arrived at the hotel and was trying to confirm my seats. No one from the restaurant bothered to call me or the hotel to secure a credit card deposit. I therefore made other dining plane on the assumption that the reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant. Interestingly, I received an e-mail from the restaurant late Saturday morning confirming my reservation for that evening. I did not bother to respond. Pros: null Cons: null more

The lack of follow up by the restaurant also left me with doubts that this experience would be up to my expectations.\r more

A really fun time 2/29/2012

We've all been there, trying to find some fun social activity that means NOT hanging out in a bar. Agatha's is the place to go! Reserve your seats and be prepared to enjoy delicious appetizers, and a five course meal and amazingly funny comedy! Audience participation is a part of this so toss away your shyness and get ready to laugh out loud. Down town Altanta and this is close to a few parking garages. No flip flops please! Agatha's 24 years of good service and fun 8/15/2011

i am the women whom the disgruntled free gift certificate folks say cursed and acted so cold and detached. I do not curse so please know that is an exageration. I had no idea that the folks with a trade off with six flags had an agreement with the owner that they did not have to pay the waiter for his service. i am sorry for that fact and i have been informed that the owner contacted sixs flags and apologized for the fupa. but i must also state if you were an employee and someone handed you a free gift certificat for an eveing of dinner and theatre and the waiters took care of you would you not be inclined to leave at least a $5 tip ? more

We receive compliments daily on our food we are a dinner theater we are not a five star restaurant and if this couple had ever been to dinner theatre before it is about the theatre not the food even though all of our food is fresh and and have quite a few choices for dinner rather then the typical dried up roast beef or chix. We have been in business for 24 years and if we were so rude and terrible we would not have lasted we give back to our community threefold in donations and do not hesitate in helping out when called upon. Our customers seem happy with our food and service and i guess the owners apology was not enought to satisfy what should be two embarassed individuals. caterina atlanta guess this lesson is that those that receive something o more

Rudest Staff Ever! 8/8/2011

Let me start by saying that the actors weren't horrible. And the audience made the experience worthwhile - in fact, one of the ""readers"" in the audience proposed to his girlfriend after his lines, which was so fun to see!\r \r Now, here is where things go downhill. \r \r Drinks: The included glass of wine was horrible - I drank better wine in college. The bar drinks were overpriced and the bartender was MEAN MEAN MEAN\r \r Food: The appetizers were the best part, which isn't saying much. Tomato bisque was also pretty good. The rest was disappointing. I felt sick after eating the Mahi Mahi.\r \r Paying: We had gift certificates for $62 each. We went on a Saturday night, so we had no problem paying the extra $2.50 per person since Saturday shows are $64.50. However, when we went to pay the tab, they charged us an extra $20 for no reason. When my friend went back to ask for clarification as to why we were paying $20 more than everyone else, the lady at the cash register said, ""Those gift certificates didn't cost you nothing so you have to pay $20."" That's not a valid reason. Obviously, they were trying to swindle us cause my friend barely put up a fight and the lady gave him back $20 and said, ""Now the waiters aren't getting paid for you two. You shouldn't ever go out again and F*** Off!"" I couldn't believe that someone in a place of business would say something so obscene to a customer! Even though we had the gift certificates, we still spent like $30 at the bar, so it's not like we were there for nothing at all. Plus, they were gift certificates! You shouldn't have to be penalized for having gift certificates and her excuse of the waiters not getting paid for us was BS cause tax and tip was included in the price. So after going back to the table to get our stuff and share this horrible customer service story with others at the table, the MEAN bartender comes up to us and says, ""Just so you know, the waiters aren't getting paid for you guys...I don't know why you don't understand this."" As she was saying this, she put her hands on me and my friend - not roughly, but in a manner that was clearly inappropriate since she was obviously heated. And then she just walked off while my friend was trying to calmly explain his perspective of the situation! \r \r After this HORRIBLE experience, I am tempted to contact the BBB and report them. And if we had not had the gift certificates, there is no way we would ever pay that price for crappy food and mediocre acting. FIND SOMETHING BETTER FOR THAT PRICE! more

First Time Visit to Agatha's 1/29/2011

Went to Agatha's for the first time last night and had a blast. I was timid about going due to the online reviews and so kept my expectations in line with what I had read - low. I don't know if it was because we went on a Friday night, if the folks that came that evening were the type that didn't take themselves too seriously and were there just to enjoy themselves, or what, but we had a great time. Yes, the play is a little cheesy, but that's part of the fun, watching audience members say the cheesy lines, while the rest of us laugh and clap, egging them on. The ""real"" actors were great and put themselves into their roles. \r \r Surprisingly, the food was good for the venue type. It's not five-star quality but it was good. I had the Salmon and my friend the Chicken Marsala and both were tender and juicy. Too, the prices of drinks from the bar were in line with what I would expect to pay for drinks at this type of venue in any major city. And the service? It was excellent. Truly. The wait staff was polite and efficient, but every request was immediately taken care of. \r \r With something of this nature, one must put themselves out there and join in. If you go with the expectation of food from a five-star resteraunt along with being entertained by oscar-winning performances, you'll be disappointed. If you go with an open mind, expecting to do your part in the entertainment process, and a sense of community, you'll have a great time. Oh, btw, if there's only 2 in your party don't worry because you'll have a good time as you'll soon make friends with everyone at your table! more

A Performance Not To Be Missed 9/19/2010

Wanting to have an "out of the box" birthday celebration this year, I chose Agatha's for dinner and entertainment for me and my 19 closest friends. I had heard from stiff shirt guys that it was a lot of fun so I knew it definitely be something I wanted to do. Boy was I in for a treat! I had no idea the acting cast would be everyone in the room plus two EXTREMELY talented actors. The performance was hilarious. We served ourselves the appetizers, but the main course was continuous brought out by the courteous wait staff. They kept the food coming all night! The fresh, hot mahi mahi was delicious and the service was prompt considering we had a party of 20. A good time was had by all! You gotta go see the performance for yourself. The food was well the cost of the event. I will definitely go to Agatha's again! more

Great Experience 8/8/2009

After reading some of the reviews we almost did not go? We are so glad we did go! This place was awesome. We went on a Friday and there were approximately 75 people. The fact that it was only 1/2 full might have made a difference? We showed up on time (before 7:45) and so we got to enjoy the plentiful and delicious appetizers. The steak Kabob things on a stick was my favorite. We were all stuffed before the main course. I had the fillet Mignon and it was so tender I could cut it with a fork. The dessert was average strawberry shortcake. But seriously was so stuffed by then I did not care. The wait staff was attentive and responsive. They did a great job. The show was a blast. Actors were fun and everyone in the audience had some sort of participation. Laughed till I hurt! In total was a great value for 3 hours of fun. Looking forward to going again. Pros: Great Food and Fun Cons: Ate too much more

We will laugh about this place for a very long time 6/26/2009

I took my wife here for her birthday. We showed up about 7:50pm for a 8pm show. The appetizers were 90% gone. We were sure they were going to be refilled but never were. The hot appetizers are served in cold dishes so they were cold when we ate them. Nothing like cold fried mushrooms, chips and salsa and a meat and cheese tray with no crackers for an appetizer "buffet." Pros: Still trying to fine one Cons: Food was terrible more

The hot appetizers are served in cold dishes so they were cold when we ate them. Nothing like cold fried mushrooms, chips and salsa and a meat and cheese tray with no crackers for an appetizer ""buffet.""\r \r We bought a bottle of wine for $36, which ended up being the highlight of the night. The dinner theaters I have been to before have many actors and I kept expecting for there to be more than just 2 people performing. The room was a little awkward for the show. The room was only half filled and the crowd was very diverse, from very young to very old. We dressed pretty nice but were sitting next to people in jeans and t-shirts. \r \r I had a fly in my water when we sat down. After we finished nibbling on our meats and cheeses we were served canned vegetable soup. The salad was equally non-impressive. For dinner we had the beef tenderloin and grouper. The grouper was ok but the tenderloin was tasteless. The couple across from us said the sauce on the salmon was too sweet. The potatoes and veggies that came with were extremely blah. The dessert was not the custard but a hard cake with strawberries. They serve you the dessert after the show is done so the servers are cleaning the tables as you eat which makes you feel rushed. I bussed tables for 7 years and you never start cleaning up until everyone is out of the room. What can you expect from servers when the tip is included in the price?\r \r As far as the show, the 2 actors were good, but I was expecting a show and a meal for $120. For that money, we could have went to a very nice restaurant and had a great time. I would have paid $40 tops for this. Even if they included a bottle of wine in the price, it still wouldn't be worth it. I spent $160 on a busted night. Do you know the meal you can get for $160 in Atlanta? The show does no where near make up for the remaining cost. \r \r The other patrons seemed to be having a great time so maybe it was just us. My advice, go if someone else is treating or it's a company event. At least we'll always have the memory of our terrible night to laugh about for all time. Pros: Still trying to fine one Cons: Food was terrible more

Expect to perform & eat terrible food 6/16/2009

This was not at all what i expected. I expected a mystery, however, it was a musical spoof. The 2 actors were entertaining, however, all guests have a speaking part that isn't optional. I wasn't to happy about speaking in front of 100 or so people even if it was only a few lines. I payed to be entertained, not be part of a show. The first course was good, however, the soup, salad, and dessert were tiny. Also after the waiter stressed that the filet mignon was only cooked medium rare, which is perfect for me, the steak came out so well done it tasted like charcoal. The waiters were not very attentive since the tip is included and the dining hall was awkward for a show. All in all, the show was entertaining, however, I wasn't too excited about paying $62.50 for two actors and terrible food! I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are planning on getting too drunk to taste the food. Pros: Cheesey but Entertaining Cons: Food was terrible more
