Family place folks. Spent most of our time at the pool or the theme park so the amenities of the room was not really in question with us. We have been here before, we came back, enough said. It's a nice get away for the kids. The place is old and knowing that going in might ease your senses a bit since you won't be expecting fresh digs with the latest prints on the wall. Also, water and fabric plus the passage of time is going to lead to some bad outcomes. People expect sooo much these days it frustrates the heck out of me when they bash on a place like this because they expect to pay $22/night and receive in room facials, massages and pedicures. This place is wonderful for the family. We will go back. more

Every winter we take our kiddos to a hotel to swim in the pools while it's a blustery cold Iowa Winter outside. We are from the Des Moines area so we've made the rounds through many of the area hotels. For the past few years I've been hearing that Adventureland Inn has great pools for little kids, but because of other reviews I'd been very skeptical about trying them out. After a girlfriend of mine had her son's birthday party there and loved it, I decided to give it a try. We LOVED our stay. The staff was friendly and kept asking how we were enjoying our stay. The boys (2 and 5) had a fantastic time in the pools and on the slides. We stayed in a ""family suite"" which gave us plenty of room and patio out to the pool more

My children (6 & 9), and I had a very nice stay here. After driving from Kansas City to enjoy Adventureland, it was super convienent to stay where we played. Although I thought the price was a little step it was worth it overall. The rooms were nice, clean and staff was friendly. Two interactive pool areas and the room service made this trip much more comfortable. We stayed on the far side of the pools which I believe were a step up from the poolside rooms, lacking a flat panel TV and such. I would stay here again. more

We have been there every year for 8 years: we take our entire family to adventure land every July. Everyone enjoys it tremendously. We have run into a few problems, but the staff have been more than helpful to fix whatever problem we encounter. We will be back again more

The Best Hotel Around Des Moines: I live in the metro area and as far as hotels go this hotel is the best around. The indoor pools are unmatched in the area. My children loved the pools and the arcades. We ordered pizza from the hotel and it was delivered fast and tasted great. I don't know why anyone wouldn't love this place. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. The service was great and the kids didn't want to leave. It will be our place to get away in the winter time. more

Our family recently stayed at Adventureland Inn to go to Adventureland Park right ""next door"" to the hotel. We have stayed there in the past and have tried a few of the other hotels in the area, but this year we were very impressed with the changes that have been made to the hotel. \r \r In the past, we came to realize that it is nice/convenient to have a room that has a patio to the pool area, but then we realized that any of the rooms would be fine for our family so this year I booked a ""standard room"". It was a room that was on the outter perimeter of the hotel--basically looking at the parking lot and not the pool area. I WAS SO IMPRESSED!!! The room we received was completely remodled from the last time we had stayed in 2006. The beds were very comfortable, the room decor was very up to date, and the TV was a nice flat screen. I could tell that not all of the rooms in the hotel had been done like ours from looking in to rooms that had their doors open while walking down the hall, so I asked why at check out and the desk clerk told me they were slowly doing a new section of rooms each fall until all of the rooms would be like ours. \r \r We enjoyed the pool areas and the trolly to Adventureland park. We spent most of the day at Adventureland and came back to the hotel very tired. It was nice to be able to order food from the restaurant and watch a movie in our room. \r \r I would say this was my favorite stay we had at the Adventureland Inn and will try to book again for next year. more

Younger children will enjoy: This is as good as any hotel. It was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. The room was on the west end and it was clean. We asked for more pillows and with in 5 minutes we had someone at the door with pillows and blankets more

The kids had a blast in the two hotel pool areas, with a variety of slides, bubbles, hot tubs & swimming areas. Both were steps from the door of our room. This made things a little loud, at pool opening time, but nothing that a family with kids isn't used to already. The sliding roofs on both pools were especially interesting. And, both pools were patrolled by guards who, while not lifeguards, helped to keep things orderly, clean & not too wild.\r \r Housekeeping was relatively prompt with extra towels & pillows. We had to call a second time, at bedtime, though, as our rollaway bed hadn't been delivered yet. \r \r We arrived at about 7p on a Wednesday & check-in was fast & easy. \r \r Maintenance came quickly & solved the problem easily, on the second morning, when our A/C fan started making an awful noise. \r \r The game rooms were average, but the old-school Ladybug machine made dad happy :D \r \r Trolley service to Adventureland was appreciated, but the ride back from Adventureland to the hotel was slow in coming. We ended up walking back. \r \r We were there on July 4th weekend, so got to enjoy the awesome fireworks display, put on by the neighboring casino, from the hotel's parking lot. Beautiful! more

We had a terrific stay at Adventureland Inn! I must admit, after reading some of the negative reviews, I was a bit worried, but once we arrived, all that fear vanished!\r \r First of all, the room we stayed in was a standard room on the first floor. Must have been recently remodeled. Nice comfy beds, which is unusual in motels, nice flat screen TV, marble-like flooring, wall coverings in the bathroom. There was a little fenced in area off the back of our room, where we could park right outside - very handy to pack & unpack the vehicle!\r \r Then there's the pool....AWESOME!!! WE have two small children that spent hours in the kiddie pool. It's a zero entry to 2.5-or-so ft. pool, with a little slide and a couple of other water features that made the kids giggle each time. We loved being able to sit either in the pool on the side, or in one of the chairs, just relaxing & watching them play. The roof is a dome, which can be open, or closed depending on the weather. This was especially nice since it was raining & we weren't able to go right over to Adventureland like we were planning to do. I can't imagine how we would've kept the kids happy without the pool! The swim-up bar pool was right there, which was playing tropical-type music, making you feel as if you're at a resort...not in IA! The drinks were very yummy as well!! You can sit right with your kids while enjoying an adult cocktail. \r \r Granted, we don't get out all that often, but our fmaily will definitely make the 5 hour journey to Adventureland Inn again & again! more

This is a great place to stay for a fun time with kids. The pools are great and the water temp was awesome. It's also very convenient that there are restaurants on site. We had an outer side room away from the pools. All the furnishings in the room seemed brand new along with the tile and carpet. We chose an outer room mainly because the price is lower than a poolside. I would say that the poolside rooms are overpriced, but you're mainly paying for the hotel's location, name, and family environment. Great place with many fond memories! more
