Yesterday I got off work and called the receptionist to schedule an appointment for waxing. I darted from work to Pikesville because I have entrusted this salon for years to take care of me well, despite commuting in rush hour traffic to get there. I arrive at my appointment at 5:30 and am told to proceed upstairs (as I arrived earlier than my appointment time of 5:45). I go upstairs, and the receptionist lady who is typically at the desk in the midlevel between the up and downstairs is not there. I sit and wait and wait and wait for about 25-30 minutes before wondering when I will be taken in for my appointment.
I go back downstairs to see what is going on with my service that is scheduled with Julia. An elder blonde lady receptionist tells me, ""oh Julia... (And then a look of stifled horror crosses her face) as she tells me that Julia has ""left"" for the day and that she can't believe that Julia left when she had a client (meaning, she probably didn't even realize she had a client due to the lack of communication apparently going on with this staff).
At this point, I am SEETHING as this is the second time I have had to wait 20-30 minutes for an appointment when I have arrived ON TIME, only THIS time, the esthetician has apparently LEFT the building. Receptionist lady tries to smooth things over as she realizes I am not happy, I am actually furious, as she remarks, ""how about coming in tomorrow?"" as if that will make anything better. I tell her, ""I work at 8AM and can't be here"" (aka. can't afford to drive around and play around like the clowns that run your business). She gives me a tight-lipped smile (while the other 2 receptionists gawk at me) and says, ""how about saturday?"" At this point this is infuriating me because the staff clearly does not know how to apologize and guess what, a ""Sorry"" does not cut it in this situation. It is their fault, plain and simple, and I cannot believe that the employees can treat their customers this way. I have frequented this particular About Faces for years and also have noted a decline in the quality of service and the efficiency of service. The estheticians and other people who work in this salon do so without much haste or urgency or consideration of other people's time. When you have an appointment, you should keep it - especially if you want to keep your loyal customers who pay and even TIP you well.
I am absolutely disgusted by this salon and refuse to go back. I will maybe visit a different location, but not pikesville.
