Best

When i first saw their prices I was bit turned off. But I paid $4 for a mushroom slice and I was in heaven. It's not your run of the mill pizza. They put different kind sof cheese...

Worst

When the moon hits your eye.... like a big peee-zza pie..... That's amor-eeeee........ I love how colorful...

Yawn 11/2/2008

I don't get the rave reviews for this place (and ""best pizza in LA"" really isn't saying much.) This place is just as mediocre, bland, and bad as the rest of them. The crust is doughy and chewy (hey, I'm a thin-crust gal) and the toppings are plentiful but the flavor really isn't there. Whenever I order pizza from this place, I have my oven heated up at home because they always undercook their pies. The cheese is barely melted in the middle and the crust is too chewy. Basically, it's a step up from Papa John's or Domino's (but barely.) Go for a cheap slice at lunch, but otherwise, skip it. You won't be missing much. Cons: Medicore pizza, undercooked, bland toppings more

Avoid Delivery - EAT IT THERE 10/22/2008

If you eat at Abbot's Pizza... eat AT Abbot's Pizza. I get slices there all the time that are great. Just had a pizza delivered to my house... mistake. The pizza was chewy - the texture and taste were as if the dough was old. I called and told them and they had a second pizza delivered that was exactly the same. Total bummer. The salad was good though - mixed green with a balsamic vinaigrette. more

Quality has gone down, but still a different take on pizza than the big chain pizza places 9/28/2008

We just had a lunch delivery of about 5 pizzas from Abbots this Wednesday for lunch and I gotta say the quality of pizza has gone down a bit. We ordered a cheese bomb, wild mushroom, five onion, barbecue chicken and a meat eaters pizza. Cheese bomb seemed to have much smaller bombs on it, less cheesy. The barbecue chicken pizza was utterly crapola. Someone just drew circles on the pizza with some generic, tasteless bbq sauce and sprinkled some minuscule pieces of chicken on it. The wild mushroom and five onion pizzas were surprisingly good, nice and hearty with the mushroom combination and definitely not overwhelmingly oniony with the 5 onion pizza. The meat eaters pizza seemed pretty standard, could have had bigger pieces of meat. Overall it's a nice change from the other big commercialized pizza joints, but unfortunately quality has gone down since last I've had pizza from them. Pros: Nice change of pace pizza combinations Cons: Less quality ingredients, great concept not so good excecution more

Best pizza in LA (customer service is OK) 8/19/2008

I am a pastry chef on Abbot kinney. (wwwbigcitycakes.) When I have a long day, I love my two pieces of Bianca. Some times for my friends I have them deliver from the 2nd locaton on pico ( cross the sreet from santa monica collage. Their staff is friendlier. Abbot kinney and California location is my kind of place. So far I have not found any pizza this damn good!!!I just got back from NY. I had some pizza was really heavy crust was very thick. I personally love thin crust. Just like Abbots pizza. Good luck !guys. Keep up with your great attitude and (crust) consistancy for ever.. Pros: Thumbs up more

You will probably have a bad experience here 8/2/2008

I actually mean zero stars. The only reasons this place stays open are location and lack of competition.\r \r The people are severely rude. They respond to their overwhelming incompetence by lashing out at customers when they are too busy or mess up (which is often). I've heard from many people in the area and they all have at least one story about the place. It is not uncommon for them to sigh at you or roll their eyes at you.\r \r They messed up a pizza I had delivered a while ago and the woman on the phone got argumentative with me, like I was making them miserable because I didn't want the veggie side of my pizza on top of the meat side.\r \r The slices are not fresh. Ever. They are stale and cold. Their health code rating is a joke. They must have paid someone off. I used to manage a pizza place, and we would have been shut down in a second for the stuff I see there.\r \r I could go on and on. But basically, this place is terrible. Bad food, worse service. Scary to say, but no pizza is better than Abbot's Pizza. Pros: Fast. Great loaction. No competition in the area. Cons: Dirty. Poor service. Poor dining food. No adherence to health code more

Abbot's is the ONLY real pizza in west LA. 7/16/2008

I dunno what kind of greasy fat puddle the last reviewer thinks is good pizza, but she's obviously never been introduced to GOOD, no make that the BEST FREAKIN' PIZZA in L.A. \r \r Abbot's crusts are to die for, and the toppings they offer are fresh and of extremely high quality. \r \r Don't trust mid-american pinheads for pizza advice. This is a high-quality, New York style pizza without peer.\r \r more

Good places gone bad... 6/10/2008

There is this low level of customer service that has become acceptable in Los Angeles that is starting to deter me from my favorite places. I am a cook, chef, traveler, foodie that has eaten in tons of cities and experienced deli counters to 5 star dining. I am starting to boycott restaurants like Abbot's Pizza until they turn around their service. It's not all bad (the pizza is great) but customer service is a huge part of dining out and it's totally lacking here. Train your staff, don't hire just anyone. Hire people that are motivated and work hard. If a customer is dissatisfied, freakin comp them. You will get your return in the long run because of their future orders. If you don't it just looks desperate rather than eager to please. I am not just going here for a slice of pizza every other weekend. I place large corporate orders never under $100 and tip big if it's on time. Well, Mulberry Pizzeria is getting all my future business even if I have to pay another company to deliver it to me. Pros: Good pizza, good ingredients Cons: Customer service makes me not hungry anymore more

All-time best pizza! 3/16/2008

This place ranks as all-time the best pizza my kids and I have ever had. We want to go back to California this year, for fun at Santa Monica Pier and for Abbott's Pizza. Loved the special toppings you can get, the sauce, and the crust! more

Garlic galore 1/1/2008

My fiance and I called the Santa Monica location of APC and ordered a large Popeye pizza (first time customers). It was good, except for one thing: way too much garlic. All you could smell in the car on the way home was garlic (we picked up, given the poor reviews of the APC delivery) and my fingers reek of it, hours later. On the plus side, my fiance liked it (but he'll eat anything), so I guess as long as you don't mind a TON of garlic, this pizza would be fine. We're definitely going to try again, because their other non-garlic drenched pizzas sound delightful. Pros: Unique pizza concoctions Cons: too much garlic more

Never order delivery from this place 7/23/2007

I have always been a big fan of this pizza and their usually delish bagel crust, HOWEVER, after ordering a pizza and a salad for delivery this weekend I will most likely never order or eat their food again. The person who answered the phone made up a delivery charge of 5.00 then told us it would be okay to only charge 2, which is the normal amount. Luckily, we had ordered delivery before and knew we never paid $5. Then, 2 hours passed. After calling 3 times and getting 3 different stories about why our food hasn't arrived, I finally spoke to the manager who then told me they burnt the original pizza and had to make a whole new pie. Still...two and a half hours? I understand that places are busy. Their overpriced pizza was not worth the wait. I will definitely be finding a new local pizza place!! Pros: great crust Cons: little sauce, staff that lies and makes up prices, never get delivery in under an hour more

So...Does the pepperoni come with the pepperoni pizza? 6/3/2007

When it comes to Venice, I have never been disappointed with its pizza offerings. There just seems to be so much to choose from, and this competition creates a high standard. Abbot's Pizza was a reccommendation given to me while I was shopping cruiser bikes in San Gabriel, an hour away. Since I was on my way to Venice that day, I thought I would check it out.\r \r Now if you have been searching New York style, thin crust pizza that is local, I would say your pilgrimage is over. But I do have a few comments. First, their crust does not fair well once it has been taken home, set in the fridge, and heated up the next day: very flimsy and soggy. Just refrain from microwaving it; a toaster oven should crisp it up a bit. Second, when I ordered the delectable chicken pizza, it didn't come with chicken. It came with everything else, but no chicken. When I asked about this, I was told that many people order the chicken pizza but want it vegetarian-style, so without the chicken. Well, I didn't order it that way, and how would I even be expected to know that? It was my first time. I really couldn't help thinking that I was being made to feel as though this were somehow my fault. Their resolution: ""We can put some chicken in the microwave and put it on your pizza that way."" I declined.\r \r The moral (although I had previously learned this 25 years ago from my 4th grade teacher): Don't assume! When ordering pizza anywhere, order your chicken pizza WITH chicken. It's your own fault if you don't. I'm assuming that it's fair to roll the dice with the pepperoni pizza. After all, who in their right mind has to be prompted to remember to add pepperoni to a pepperoni pizza? But hey, if you're a rebel, leaving it up to chance, and you don't get what you ordered directly from Abbot's menu, I am sure that they will pop a few pepperonis in the microwave for you. And I didn't ask, but I am sure that all pizzas come with cheese, regardless of whose fault it is. :) Pros: New York-style thin crust, affordable Cons: Not much atmosphere, better taken home more

Best Pizza in L.A. 11/30/2006

I know it's not much of a title. It's kind of like Jean-Claude VanDamme being the best kick-boxer in Belgium. Nonetheless, I think that Abbot's makes the best pizza in L.A. Blame it on Wolfgang and his BBQ chicken abhorration, but L.A. is not known for pizza. Abbot's is the exception. Their crust is great. Plain cheese for me please. Keep it up Abbot's. The vegans can kiss my butt. You should go to the Ballona wetlands and drink some swampwater. You've made a choice to be inconvenient; don't expect the world to accommodate. Pros: pizza Cons: hipster waitstaff more

Killer Crust 11/24/2006

The toppings at this joint are pretty top notch, but it's the crust that turns their pizza's int real winners. I recommend ordering, leaving, then picking up, as there's not much atmosphere to speak of. more

Great PIzza 11/21/2006

I dont know why it is that here in LA people want a fu&*in valet and a BJ for getting into there car and driving a block or two. This PIZZA Place is awesome, Its tiny its crowded and just like any real pizzeria you would see in my neighborhood! So F$%^ the hype its just great fu**ing pizza like you should get, I am not sure about all the foo foo shee shhee sh*t the hotties were eating but the regular cheese made me feel like I was back in Brooklyn. There are some good places on the West side so f**k all the east coast west coast BS, its a fu**ing great slice of Pizza end of fuc*in story! So enjoy the place while its still there cause that neighborhood aside from them and the coffee shop that I heard helped make it what it is today may not be able to afford the fu**in rent so that people that complain about it being busy or hard to park or are too p*ssy to say hey this looks burnt can park there Ferrari's and Land Rovers and go into there ARTIST LOFTS. The problem is half the people dont know a good fu**ing slice like I dont know Mexican food! Pros: Its a great slice, and its definitely in its own realm with the fancy sh*t Cons: too many wanna be tough guys like me! funny how we all find the same places more

not vegan friendly 11/16/2006

they advertise that they're vegan friendly, but they refused to make a vegan pizza, claiming they were too busy. i think that reflects pretty poorly on their service in general. i've never been to a restaurant that couldn't make an item on the menu because they were too busy. more
