AJ Perri North

I dont know how these people sleep at night. I called A.J. Perri to clear a clog in my main sewer line after I had a flood in my basement bathroom. They snaked the line and put a camera through the pipe and showed me areas that were clogged with roots. They were pleasant and informative (I thought); they proceeded to tell me that I needed a new main sewer line and the cost would $10,000 plus the cost of fixing my patio that they said needed to be dug up. I said that I couldn't possibly sign up for it that day as I had to wrap my head around this kind of expenditure and that I was leaving on a trip the next day, but I had their number and most likely would be calling them. Once I said no to signing a contract, they became almost nasty..trying to intimidate me. I had to say ""NO"" no fewer than 5 times. \r I then did some research for an alternative solution as I didn't have $10k to spend. There is a process called hydro-jetting that destroys roots (they never even told me that this process exists). I called Hurricane Plumbing which examined the pipe with the same camera equipment, hydro-jetted the roots away and applied Root-X. They said the pipe is fine and I wont be needing a new one for a long time - just use the Root-X every 6 months. Total cost = $1000. I do not know how A.J. Perri is still in business..there are tons of bad reviews similar to mine on the web. My next stop is to report them to the BBB, but now sure if that does anything as they have a good rating with the BBB. more

I called for a free no obligation estimate for a new furnace and it was worse that dealing with a car sales representative. This AJ Perri sales rep was so pushy and his desperate ways to get me sign the contract right there and then was awful. I will not recommend it to anyone and put you through that horrible experience (2 hours of torture). I didn't get to experience pass that initial encounter. more

I give AJ Perri one star for moxie to sell me something at an inflated price. I have been in a family business doing the same thing for 35 years, I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. Perri, thought they had a helpless woman that needed to be rescued that was there first mistake. Second, they handed me an estimate for 12k to change out a boiler, then began the hustle. Well Mam we can take off $1,500.00 for a rebate, we also, will take off a another $1,000.00 because it is a efficient boiler. Oh, and Mam if you sign today we are ready to offer you an additional !0%. and today is a full moon and we are running a special. \r These people are totally dishonest and if you do not believe me call them for an estimate and ask for an itemized bill. Consumers today must learn how to get a fair deal. Plumbing is one of the few trades that still-- hand the end-user a bottom line price and say take it or leave it. I called AJ Perri for their $99 ""Any Drain"" clog clearing special, which they honored perfectly. A professional looking man came quickly, listened carefully, and cleared the standing water in our pipes. For $99, I think we got a steal. Then came the ""gotcha""! He said our cleaning came with a free camera inspection, and scheduled another employee to come out later that day.\r \r The next employee came out and performed a camera inspection, which he said showed a total destruction of our main sewer line. He said we were leaking sewage directly into the ground, and put a flag marker on the spot in our brick patio under which this broken pipe was located. He said that our area has ""Orangeburg"" pipes, which were wartime pipe products made of pressed paper wrapped with tar paper instead of metal. They work fine, until they don't. When they fail, there is no repair except full replacement.\r \r The price? $3,750 to dig the first hole and repair up to 10' of pipe. If the rest of the 100' run needed replacement (only possible to know after this work is done), it could have run up to $20,000. But don't worry- the $99 drain clog would be credited against it! The camera technician tried every high-pressure sales tactic in the book to get me to sign, but I wouldn't without another estimate. Thank goodness!\r \r I called a local sewer repair company, Apollo in Keyport, NJ. Their guys do not share the professional appearance of AJ Perri, but on the plus side, they aren't crooks. Brian from Apollo found the problem 25 feet in the opposite direction from where AJ Perri said it was, and fixed the whole thing for $1,000. He quoted me a $750 dig fee, and told me it would probably be $1,500 total, but when the backhoe wasn't needed, he charged me less. The pipe was NOT broken in any way, just severely clogged. Not made of Orangeburg, either, but solid cast iron. After the repair, everything works perfectly. There were no pipes of any kind anywhere near the spot AJ Perri said was where they would dig. They were either trying to throw off any future bidders for the job, or else they just had no clue.\r \r Consider AJ Perri if you need a cheap drain clearing, but don't let them rob you for any additional work!!! more

Simply the Best.\r I had a problem with backup and clogging with sewer line. I called A.J.Perri and technician Mike Buckley came same day. Unfortunately the problem was not completely solved,so I called the company again. Next day,he came again and solved the problem with my satisfaction.He explained me the root cause of the problem and suggested camera inspection which I am going to have it done. Mike is very knowledgeable and friendly.If I have my own company,I would hire him right away. Thanks A.J.Perri. Keep up the good work. more

We called AJ Perri at 630pm on the hottest day of the year and were promised a visit between 830 and 1030pm. Keith arrived at 715pm. He was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and a great person to have at our home. He quickly resolved our problem efficiently and with costs in mind. An absolutely wonderful service experience. I have never had a problem with any one from AJ Perri and truly appreciate everyone, but this tech was especially helpful, and he really took care of me. I was also very pleased that after he had such a long day and it was so late, he was still such a pleasure to have in my home. more
