I'm so glad I took my car to AAMCO! The car was running rough and the dealer was going to charge me an arm and a leg and I think the other leg as well. I brought the car down the street to AAMCO because they check out the car for FREE. They put the computer scanner on the car and discovered the work I needed done by the dealer was legit but it was going to cost me $500 less....woo hoo!! Best shop ever!! more

Do not take your vehicle here. They take advantage of customers and senior citizens. My grandmother, age 66, had a transmission error. She dropped it off and they did $600 dollars of work without notifying her. They changed her spark plugs, valve gasket cover, and mass air flow sensor. None of these had to do with the transmission and they did it without authorization. When she picked up the car, the error message was still there obviously, but they told her that it was a ""glitch"" and what they had done would fix the problem. \r \r This was when the family got involved and realized the pricey work AAMCO had done had nothing to do with the transmission. The vehicle was taken back to AAMCO, but they had NO RECORD of doing any work to her car, what they did, why they did it, or how much each part cost. We had the receipt, they had nothing. Their compensation for all of this was to take another look at the car and give a 10% discount on the additional work (nothing could be done about the previous, erroneous work) to fix the original problem that the car was there for in the first place. This came from the corporate representative that had to be stationed there, I assume from the amount of complaints and low quality work coming from this location. He also informed us that the son of the owner who had worked on the car was an idiot for doing the work he did given the error code, but still would not give us further compensation, despite acknowledging fully that THEY WERE THE ONES AT FAULT. We refused and have decided to take it to a competent mechanic.\r \r I repeat, do not take your vehicle here. No amount of corporate involvement will change an owner and son who either do not have sufficient automotive repair skills or do not care. Here, they will take advantage of you, will not fix your problem, and hide their incompetence or lies by keeping no record of your visit. Except your credit card transaction of course. more

FINALLY Satisfied 4/12/2012

after 8 yrs of fighting the original owner... and apparently other crooked AAMCO service centers.. i am finally satisfied with my transmission i have a lifetime warranty on. I have been trying to get it fixed and time, and time again, i got, has to an engine issue, we couldn't find it, needs a sensor, needs to be flashed.. all lies. I took to Charles, and he put me in touch with his builder Taz. They both listened to my explanation of what i was troubled with. Taz went out on a test drive so "" I "" could show him the problem. After the test drive, he told me it needed a torque converter, ( like i have been trying to tell other so called builders for 8 yrs), and replaced. On return it still had a shifting problem, and i called Charles. He told me to bring back in, and they would work on it right away. I was called back to pick up my truck, and they replaced the shift kit. I now have the power i have been looking for, and i knew was in my truck. Charles and Taz went out of their way to listen to me, and correct my problem. It wasn't fixed the first time, but they did make it right. That goes a long way in my book. Don't give up on this place,, new management, and builder, make it worth your stop again. THANK YOU TAZ, and CHARLES!!!! more

Awesome 10/8/2010

The new owner Franks Evans III is awesome as well as the service manager James. I am a single mother of 2 and do not have a lot of money. I went in there with my 2000 hyun. accent. The car only went into reverse and I knew it had to be a transmission problem. James, the service manager, had genuine concern for my car, and got right on it. He explained to me that they were going to check it out for free, and that it would take about an hour or so to figure out the problem. Frank then offered to give myself and my children a ride back home. About an hour later James called me with the news of what my vehicle was doing. He explained to me that they checked the level color and condition of my transmission fluid, took the car on a test drive, and scanned the vehicle for any codes that might be present. He explained to me that it was an internal problem with the transmission and gave me a price to repair it. I explained to him that I didn't have that kind of money, so he went to talk to the more

New Braunfels,TX AAMCO Transmission Fraud? 5/7/2008

Originally i went in to have my trans checked it was still driveable but slipped 2nd to 3rd gear..they said it was good i caught it in time and its going to cost me at most $1600..so they got into it..called back and said its worse then it looked and said its gonna over $2000 to fix...then another call came its gonna take a complete rebuild causing me to dish out $3300 and i had no choice in the matter to have them repair since i work 7 Days a Week and have no time to do it myself..4 days i later i get my jeep back seemed fine but dissapointed on the bill..went in 10 days later for follow up to make sure its all good..everything checked out fine. Now its been almost a month since the transmission has been done..on Monday i went threw a car wash and once i exited the vehicles engine light went on and i proceeded to drive and it seemd to feel like its starting off in a high gear so i pulled over immediately checked fluid seemed fine went to drive off..put it in gear and it took some rpms to jump in gear and it slammed in. So i drove back to AAMCO and left it with them and let them figure it out. Got a call back and was told there was water in the trans...they said they have no clue as to how it got in there. they asked if i submerged the vehicle in water and i told them we're in texas where am i gonna find that and they said from towing a boat and launching it and going in too far..i dont have a boat..so somehow someway water got in there..Well, since there was water in there they are not covering warranty on it..and somehow someway it got in there..i dunno if they left something out or missing or what but now im out a vehicle and over 3 grand for a trans that lasted me not even a month..SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT! I've called to AAMCO Corp. and spoke once to someone they said they'd get back to me..no response i left 3 more messages no call back..awaiting for a phone call or there is going to be some legal issue and bus. bureau Cons: Dishonest? more

$3,300 poorer, burning smell in engine 1/2/2008

went in for fluid change in trans. and they todl me i need a rebuild transmission. i said it drives fine but they said its in bad shape and if i drove on it without fixing it it would ruin my transmission and hurt the engine. they said it would be $1,500. i said to go ahead and fix it. then they called me and said it would be $2,500. it made me nervous but they said they would charge me that much to stop the repair so i went ahead. i went to pick up my car and the bill was $3,300 plus tax. the car does not drive better and there is a burning smell under the hood and it comes into the car when i use the AC or the heater which is all the time basically. more

con artists 1/1/2008

Once they get your car in the garage you are screwed. The costs will keep getting higher and higher and they will not let you get away. Unlike the previous reviewer, I do not think it is a knowledge problem. I think they are extremely dishonest. Cons: cons more
