Our Favorite Spot! 2/6/2005

Dasaro's is our favorite restaurant. First of all, the restaurant is likely the most beautiful on the penninsula. The food is delicious! We love the NY Steak. The bucatini pasta is to die for. Caesar salad has a unique twist and becomes very addictive. (We crave it now!) The wine list is extensive and the managers & staff are great at helping to select a fine bottle. Service is very attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere. We love to take our family & friends or go out just the two of us for a romantic meal. We HIGHLY recommend Dasaros. more

Excellent 3/30/2004

I recently dined at D'asaro with a friend and had an excellent meal! Great caesar salad and the semolina gnocchi are to die for. great wine list with a wide variety of italian wines. our server was friendly, yet lacked a lot of wine knowledge. Manager came around and was chatting with tables...very friendly and classy young man. more

Disapointing 2/27/2004

I had been to Dasaro three times before and I was always impressed by the quality of the food. So, when a friend suggested we meet there for dinner I was eager and happy. I started with a salad that was so overloaded with vinegar as to make eating it a mouth puckering contest. For the main plate I had chosen gnocci. The gnocci themselves were OK, not overcooked but they were soaked in a sauce that was extremely salty. To finish, expecting to at least leave with a good desert, I ordered the tiramisu. The tiramisu had the consistency of tapioca. Given that this restaurant is not cheap, I believe that the food was way under expectations. Maybe this was just one of their bad nights but I hesitate to go back and spend another $100 to find out if they can do better. Pros: Service, Ambience Cons: , Prices more

Redwood City Renaissance at D'Asaro 2/16/2003

With its warm, rustic dining room with tables cloaked in white linens and a huge, sunny patio, DAsaro offers a sophisticated destination for Italian dining that adds to the renaissance of downtown Redwood City. Chef Christopher Fernandezs menu features well-executed versions of standard dishes including Caesar Salad, Potato Gnocchi with Seasonal Vegetables, and Wood-fired Oven Roasted Chicken. Service is pleasant and attentive: the servers are intimately familiar with both the menu and the wine list and are not afraid to make recommendations. The wine list is deep with Italian varietals and replete with other well-priced selections from California and around the world. While the dinner menu is priced more like restaurants in The City (Dinner for 2 with wine $110), the real bargain is the lunch menu with its gargantuan focaccia-based sandwiches for only $9.95. The Redwood City renaissance begins at DAsaro. Pros: Good parking, Sunny patio, Good service more

Top Notch 11/1/2002

What an addition to this area of Redwood City. The patio table where we ate dinner was great since winter has not set in. Our waiter knew the food(which was amazing!) and recommended a great wine to go with dinner. We had to saddle up to the bar for an apertif to enjoy the rustic italian interior and the crowd at the bar. You've got to save room the Affogato for dessert...gelato, espresso, Liqueur... Pros: the food, the service, the wine Cons: too far from home more

Rude Service 9/26/2002

I was not impressed. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday and the staff was so arrogant, from the bitchy hostess to the waiter. The food was okay, a little pricey for Redwood City and the dining areas were small. This place is just not worth the hassle. Cons: Service, Prices, Atmosphere more

Good eats. Good seats. 8/14/2002

Gotta go first. Great food. Great setting. Had lunch on large outdoor patio basking in the sun. Was mid-day on a weekday so parking/crowds were a non-issue and service was prompt. I was expecting this restaurant to simply rely upon their central location and romantic ambience to draw customers but no, they actually do serve excellent food as well. Their salads and sandwiches were first class. I cant wait to try the rest. Until then, two thumbs up! Pros: spacious seating, outdoor seating more
