First, the food here is excellent. We have made several trips to this restaurant over the years in our visits to Chicago. The service is unparalleled as our waiter was very attentive; even with some kids it tow-- the entire staff was accomodating! The most notable experience of all was the fact that I left my purse in the restroom and it was returned, untouched- to the bar! Highly recommended!!!!! more

I never miss htis restaurant whenever I visit Chicago! The waitstaff and management are incredibly nice and unpretentious, the food is fresh and amazing, and, though it's not cheap, it's worth every penny. more

My wife and I managed last minute arrangements to dine at La Strada. The service was above and beyond, but not too overdone. The appetizer was coconut shrimp which was very good, served with of coarse bread, crab spread and oil w/ basalmic. We elected to order the lobster bisque soup...very tasty. The wine we ordered was just the house Merlot and was unexpectly very good. Our main course were very large in size and done to perfection. My wife had the poatato dumpling with alfredo sauce and I had the special filet with shrimp with crab stuffing. As I stated the portion sizes were generous. We closed our evening with each a serving of tiera misou and expresso. Truly Italian. The article above said hit or miss..I believe this was a top ten meal. Romantic for Valentine's. Dim, cozy. Booth was fairly secluded because restaurant is divided in sections. I'm hard to please when it comes to Italian. Fine Italian restaurants often use too much garlic or basil (to where that's all you taste). La Strada's food has the right amount of spices. The entrees were very good. Desserts for Valentine's were extremely good and had an upscale, artistic presentation. Chocalate dessert sampler had strawberries dipped in chocolate and white chocolate. Rich chocolate dessert drizzled with raspberry sauce. I'd give dessert a 9. For a place with a wine steward, the prices are very reasonable. Warning: bread basket was lined with paper and the flame came above the candle holder and the paper caught fire! We had to plunge breadsticks into water glass! That was a couple years ago, so maybe they've fixed that problem. Pros: Romantic, cozy, Reasonable prices, Good food Cons: Candle ignited bread! more
