They make great pizza, I am from Long Island and this is the way I like my pizza The grand ma pizza and the Sicilian are #1 in my book Nice place

Worst

Let me begin by saying that I recently had a delicious lunch at Cinelli's (in the same room as 604 - it's basically the same place) and was very pleased. So when I saw a Groupon ...

Opened this acct to write this review thats how pissed I am 4/16/2012

I was a fan...until today. I have been enjoying their pizza since they opened here in Durham and were beside Ben and Jerry's. Today I ordered my usual Grandma w/pepperoni and sundried tomatoes. Delivery guy arrives and when I look in the box there is NO pepperoni and lots of sundried tomatoes. I call back and advise them my pizza is incorrect. I asked that my card be refunded and the driver can pick up this pizza (I have a serious phobia about sending food back at any restaurant so I would rather just have my money back). The person at Cinellis tells me she will let the driver know and he will call me back. I wait patiently (hungry) for the driver to return and get his pizza so I can go out and pick something up. I get a call back from I guess the manager telling me that the pizza cook checked the pizza and the driver checked the pizza and per them there is pepperoni on the pizza. This takes me aback,,,did this woman just accuse me of trying to scam them out of a pizza? I tell her I have been waiting for him to pick up the pizza and clearly I am not trying to steal their pizza. Luckily, I live less than 5 min away from the restaurant so i told her I will deliver the pizza to her and she can see exactly what is on it. When I reach Cinelli's there was no manager in sight so the poor receptionist had to hear my wrath and search for the mysterious missing pepperoni. I told her I would give her $20 if she could find even the hope of a pepperoni on this pizza. I got my money back BUT I am still pissed. I know it doesn't mean much to them but they will never get any of my business again. I would rather eat cardboard from Domino's than be accused of trying to steal a $20 pizza. and I WANT MY $3 CASH TIP I GAVE TO THE LYING DRIVER. more

I joined CitySearch just to clarify the identity and quality of 604 W. Morgan. I live in the neighborhood (Warehouse District) and want nearby businesses to succeed if they're good and there seems to be a great deal of unfortunate confusion about this restaurant in reviews. ""604 W. Morgan, featuring Cinelli's"" IS a confusing concept. 604 is an upscale terrific Italian restaurant:; Cinelli's is an ok, casual pizza place. They share a site, but they have very different menus and when you go to one restaurant you are not aware the other one is connected unless you go out of your way to walk around a few corners and through. 604 is a lovely place, with great ambiance, wonderful waitstaff and fabulous food. The ""604 bruscetta,"" with garlicky white beans and shaved Parmesan served with broccoli rabbe is a dish I think about sometimes and crave; the pasta with wild mushrooms is earthy and satisfying; I've had lovely fresh fish; and miracle of miracles, their salads are beautifully composed and perfectly dressed, a rare event in my experience. Some reviewers mention ""Tosca."" It was the previous tenant of the space. It served Italian red sauce food that was consistently drowning in its sauce. 604 is on another plane entirely. To confuse things even more, Cinelli's used to be in the strip mall where Whole Foods is. It was a nice, unpretentious place with good pizza. How it got attached to 604 I don't know, but the quality is not as good as it was in its old home, but still ok. If you want an excellent dinner in a quiet, gracious atmosphere, 604 is a great choice. more

Worst Restaurant Experience Ever 4/8/2011

Tonight my friends and I ate at Cinelli's for a friends birthday. In total there were about 16 of us, so a decent size party. To start with the waiter came around and only took one drink order at a time. He would take the order, then leave the table without speaking to anyone else and then come back maybe 5 minutes later without the drink! This went on for quite some time to the point that people started going to the bar in order to get their drinks because it was quicker to just get it yourself. (at no point was anyone offered a refill even on water without having to ask) There were a couple of people at the table who were never even offered a drink! Next, he took our food order which was another train wreck. It seemed like he could only do one thing at a time and he didn't really care at all. The food was sub-par, and that's generous. The food is also very expensive...the bill for my husband and myself ended up being $85. When he came with the checks, same thing...he would bring a couple at a time and then disappear without even collecting the checks that he had handed out. Two people at the table ordered dessert and he brought them their check for their dessert separately before he had even brought them their dessert! My husband ended up having to hunt the waiter down for our change, and when he finally found him the waiter pulled it out of his pocket and said he thought he gave it to him already. (I certainly wasn't going to tell him to keep the change after that experience...not to mention with gratuity tacked on he got a $14 tip just from us which he certainly did not earn) This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The food was just ok, the bill was way too much, and the service was god awful. I felt completely ripped off when we left, and I really don't mind paying for good food and good service, unfortunately this place offered neither. That's 4 hours of my life I will never get back....yes...4 hours is how long it took us to eat there with the waiter disappearing every 5 minutes! I would highly suggest staying away from this place unless you like paying for overpriced food and being ignored or treated like crap! more

Tosca is gone (604 West Morgan featuring Cinelli's 11/18/2010

After reviewing the comments below I also didnt go to 604 for dinner . I'm so happy I did . It is clear that the problems of the former restaraunt are gone. Great food , friendly staff a beautiful bar and patio. The food is as good as any restaraunt in Durham and I feel is on par with a Chicago or NY italain restaraunt. I had linguine black ink pasta " WOW" Keep this place in mind because n a few months when the word is out , they will be slammed . I made my reservation on opentable 41/2 star rating . enjoy more

  • In Short
Tosca is hip, cool, trendy--the sort of place you'd bring a date. Built in the West Village loft apartments, the exposed brick warehouse space feels like Tuscany for hipsters. Fourteen-foot tall ceilings seem to reverberate the noise level even higher. Portions are small and don't come with soup or salad, so the price of your meal can add up quickly. A good and filling bet is the tender pollo con carciofi--chicken with artichokes.
