WORST EXPERIENCE.. I purchased $617.00 Titanium progressive glasses with a clip-on sunglass and took them in for an adjustment one week later. The glasses cracked while they were being adjusted. The salesperson that cracked them ran over to the manager and he broke them in half saying it was a manufacture defect in the sodering. The manager refused a refund and stated ""We don't give refunds"" and my only option was to choose another pair of glasses. I told him I didn't want any other glasses in their store and that I would dispute it with the credit card company. He said okay. I left the broken glasses at the store and will now request a reverse from the credit card company. DO NOT GO TO 20/20 - YOU WILL BE SORRY! more

Mark Manstrangell, the district manger of 20/20 eyeglass superstore in Central Florida is one of the most unprofessional and arrogant people I have ever spoken to. His phone etiquette is left wanting. The staff was so friendly. Its a shame their boss has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I work for another eye doctor and needed a glasses prescription filled. Long story short, the glasses were not working out. I called to inquire about their refund policy and had the bad luck of talking to Mark, who happened to be in that particular store that day. And I quote, ""Listen lady, I've been in this business for 35 years. No one gives refunds! Not Wal-mart, Not Lenscrafters! Nobody! Quite asking me the same thing!"". This jewel of a man told me that the reason he lost his temper with me (I am a soft-spoken and gentle person) is because ""You keep pressin' me on the same issue!!!! The answer is no! You continue to press me! No!"". When I looked up the policy for Wal-Mart & Lenscrafters, he was left with his pants on the ground, but continued to insist that he didn't care and that ""no refunds are given at 20/20 superstore! period!"" Its a shame that a person like Mark Manstrangell represents an entire district for 20/20 superstore. My 16 year old brother has more patience with people than Mark. I am pleased to not run my business or treat my patients--the paying customers--with belittling comments and unprofessionalism. He has a thing or to learn about KEEPING A GOOD REPUTATION in all of his ""35 years of experience"". more

My Mother went here a few months ago and she had a great experience, all aspects went very smoothly. So when it was my turn I went to the same place thinking I would get the same great results. Was I in for a big surprise. I am writing this now not really able to see what I am typing. As the staff is very friendly including the doctor however it is very cookie cutter assembly line eye exam. When the doctor made the couple of comments he did about my situation I knew he had little to no real life experience if you don't fix into their box you are out of luck. My eyes are not extreme but my contact prescription is different than my contacts, but they just didn't seem to think that could ever happen. My favorite part is that I can read the lines but they are blurrrrry that is ok by their standards. I just felt that me being able to see ok was good enough for them, but it is not ok by my standards. So I have now paid for something and will be going to a more qualified place to pay for another eye exam. more

Don't do it! They used to be good. USED to be. That's why I went back. Last year was fine, but only because I'd already had an eye exam else where and they were only ordering contact lens for me. This year I needed an exam and they failed miserably. I went in for my appointment as planned, but that morning I believe I scratched my eye while taking out my contacts. I told them this when I went in. Instead of suggesting that I come back another day, or they would have to charge me two office visits, they just went right on a head with the exam and told me I had to come back for a recheck. $40, please. Today I go back for a re-check (and the contact lens fitting that I'd already paid for and not received). $40, please. Whatever...I wasn't happy but was willing to deal with it...until I got in my car and discovered that I see worse with the trial pair of the new prescription than I did with last year's prescription. In fact, now the lights blur (so badly that it's noticeable in broad daylight) and I have a migraine. $80 later, I'm WORSE off than when I started and their ""solution"" is for me to come back and deal with their incompetent doctor for a third time?! No, thanks. I'll go anywhere else instead! WalMart could have done better AND would have been closer to my home! more

Very unprofessional, salespeople just trying to make a sale. 10/18/2011

I heard about this place nearly everyday on the radio while I drive to/from work, and my girlfriend decided that she wanted to update her four year old prescription and get new contacts. After hearing a ""good"" review from our friend, who recently bought contacts there, we decided to call and set up an appointment. I sat in during all of the doctor's tests, and what I saw was sub-par service. My girlfriend previously had astigmatism, and it was also in her medical records. However, when the optometrist saw that he immediately dismissed it and told her she did not have astigmatism anymore. Afterwards, during contact selection they ended refusing to take no for an answer and forced us to purchase a six month supply of contacts. After a day of wearing the contacts, my girlfriend could not STAND them so we ended up trying to exchange them for glasses (the order for the contacts hadn't even been fulfilled yet, two weeks later) which they refused. Instead, they forced a different brand of contacts on my girlfriend and once again refused what we wanted. Finally, after going back a third time, they exchanged the contacts we bought (three weeks later, and still hadn't had them in our possession yet) for glasses, with a total less than the contacts we had bough. They never ended up giving us a refund or credit back for the difference. Not to mention, the glasses in this store are extremely cheap, and the staff knows this! One of the staff commented on my frames (Ray Bans) and said, ""Oh, those're nice. You sure didn't get those here, did you."" Oh, and they just gave her the same prescription in both eyes, when previously one eye had a stronger prescription. Actually, that eye is still a different prescription and I have to deal with her complaints that her right eye is more blind. more

Shop for glasses ANY place but 20 20 5/19/2011

I set an appt. for an exam and 1:40 later I started looking at their selection to find frames for 2 pair. The few frames they had in the ""special"" were so cheap they looked like they were made from paper clips. Every frame that looked usable as everyday eyewear were soooo expensive that it would have cost $500.00 to supply me with good vision here. Like the car ads that state a new car for $12,999 but ends up at $16,500. I paid for my prescription and left only to find out the script did not include vital info for buying glasses elsewhere. Saying they are a rip off may be a little strong but that's how I feel about this merchant. I was a loyal customer here for years but can no longer trust 20/20. more

great service and cheap too 3/29/2011

I have seen the ads and one by one my kids and then my wife needed glasses... We shoped some other big chain Stores and did not like the prices nor their customer service... then we went to 20/20 and it could not have been better... The wife said here is were we should have come first...3 pairs of glasses and sun glasses later my family can see and I am not broke...LOL more

Avoid Them at all cost 2/22/2011

Went there because I knew my vision was bad and needed to get some glasses. Went through the eye exam and sure enough they told me i needed progressive glasses and that it would cost 500 dollars. A lot more then I wanted to spend but what the hell seeing is important. Got my new glasses and I could see great at a distance but could barely read, they told me it would take some time to get used to and to come back in a few days if I had problems. Had to come back 4 times because all I could focus on was one line at a time. Then they told me it would take weeks to get used to them and before I would read correctly. Kind of hard to do my job as a software developer when you can only read one line at a time and so I had to settle for glasses that would only work at a distance. Now I have to take my glasses on and off a couple hundred times a day. Decided to call their district manager whose name is MARK MASTRANGELL to see if I could get a refund. He told me he didn't care how bad of a job they did the only thing he was willing to do was charge me a 25% restocking fee and sell me bifocals and that he won't refund any of my money. Bad product, bad service, unprofessional staff and their district manager MARK MASTRANGELL IS A JERK. more

Don't go and waste your money 2/4/2011

Finally decided to get my eyes checked because I was having trouble reading smaller print. Stopped in over the weekend, got my eyes examined and the doctor said I needed glasses (knew that), gave a prescription for eyeglasses and said I needed to wear them all the time. He's the doctor...he should know. So of course spent more money than I would have because I have to wear them all the time. After two days of trying to adjust and having a gut feeling that he was wrong, I went back (because I didn't want to pay for another eye exam) got a different doctor, he did an eye exam and said I don't need to wear them all the time just for reading. Well, now I am out over $500 because they wouldn't refund any of my money, give a percentage off, nothing. They gave me progressive lenses in one pair, and a free scratch warranty. Big whoop! Had they gotten the prescription right in the first place, I wouldn't be out $500. All I can say is they have a lot of frames to choose from. But I would never recommend this place for an eye exam. more

The reason you should try 20/20 eyeglass superstores 10/4/2009

Everyone has sometime or other come across a mis-communication when dealing with health care. Sometimes, as in eyeglasses and exams, we are told a prognosis that we are not comfortable with. As in the exam itself when a Doctor states we don''t need glass or that they won't correct a problem. This is true and sometimes we truly don't need glasses, as the Rx is so small, that regular glasses without additional coatings wouldn't correct it. As in Night Vision problems. If a person has such a tiny Rx, the optical staff has the duty to inform the patient that it would be a waste of money to fill it! But sometimes the patient is still looking for that solution. I have advised in the past, that using Anti-reflective coating with or without an RX in the glasses, usually helps with the night driving when the Rx is minimal. Glare on lenses reduces an Rx, so if the Rx is already small, the glare can reduce the rx to zero! It also is helpful for young adults who work on the computer . I know that the Doctor probably didn't voice the prognosis just exactly like the prior person stated it. And, the next optical down the road may have different ethics and just wanted that sale. I am sure that 20/20 Eyeglass Super store is to be commended for trying to tell you the truth, and that if in fact you still wanted to spend your hard earned money, that they would have accommodated you with the above type of solution. I am interested in working for this optical chain, and hope that if I do, you will come see me someday and we can resolve your situation with the knowledge that, we are here to serve you even when we advise that you don't need glasses. I hope that helps! Norine Pros: A willing staff that is honest with it's patients Cons: They don't try to rip you off with needless purchases! more

Worst Service; If I could give NO stars, I would 4/18/2009

The eye exam they perform here is incomplete. I drove down the street for a second opinion after the doctor told me there was nothing wrong with my eyes and found out I have astigmatism. When I went back and spoke to the manager about my experience, and explained I felt the exam was less than thorough, he told me it was a ""matter of opinion"". Really? Having an astigmatism is a matter of opinion? The men, specifically, were incredibly rude. When I told the eye doctor I had trouble with glare, and seeing at night, his response was ""we all do, so what?"". I really couldn't say enough bad things about this place.
