I ran across the previous note while looking up the number for Bruce's. I, to, was initially impressed with Chris, his attentiveness to the progress of our remodel, his thoroughness in explaining the roofing needs of our home, etc. He came by numerous times and all seemed good to go.
When roofing day came, our yard was swarmed by about a dozen guys. No one came to the door to introduce themselves as the lead on the tear-off. our yard (formerly in Sunset Magazine) was not at all protected before hand though we had made it clear to ALL involved in our remodel that we would like all possible care taken with the yard (I know some damage will be done along the way...)
Anyway, once we figured out who was in charge (Francisco), he balked at us for wanting some care taken even if it slowed the job down. The crew continued to throw not only roofing materials but also their drink cups and soda cans off the roof. VERY unprofessional. The yelling and constant banter (not roofing related) was annoying. The professionalism failed altogether with the workcrew blasting music from morning until well past 6:00 in the evening ( I had to ask them to turn it down while neighbors were coming home). There were no safety precautions taken to block the sidewalk or to alert drivers to their thoughtless placement of the worktruck.
When I contacted Chris about the overall balyhoo at the house, I was turfed to the owner's son who came out and shrugged off our concerns. The work went on, the mess, loud music, shouting and pop can disbursement continued.
My neighbors will not be hiring Bruce's. Today, Raynproof is installing a roof across the street. No shouting, no free-for-all, their trucks are marked and thoughtfully parked to allow traffic thru our tight neighborhood. thirty years from now I'll get to look 'em up!
