Dec. 2014 Seattle Storm 2/7/2015

Hi, my name is Deb. This last Dec. a Winter Storm hit and my roof was in pieces. Four of my Neighbors roofs were in pieces also. So, five of us ladies got together and called our insurance Companies and that was no help, We all pretty much got the same response, you will have to wait till we can get to you since there are so many calls. We all started wondering what now ? My Girlfriend Jane suggested we should find a roofer that can maybe come out and help us. So that's what we did. Five ladies on five cell phones going though the phone book and the internet and 411. We all made lunch and dug in. Three hours into the hunt my girlfriend Susan looked out the window and said it's a miracle, there's a roofers truck across the street. We all grabbed our coats and went across the street and the roofer was just finishing up with our neighbor Frank. When the roofer turned around and saw us five ladies standing there he said are all you ladies ok ? Susan said we are now! All our roofs are gone and we need help. He asked which houses were ours and he said give me a couple of hours to put plastic over our roofs then we could discuss the next step. So we waited inside for a couple of hours and we hear a knock at the door. The roofer says hi ladies, I'm Bruce with Bruce's Roofing. We sat down and we did our introductions and asked if we each had homeowners Insurance and we did. Bruce called each of our Insurance Companies and asked if he could put in a bid to fix the roofs and each insurance Company said yes. Before Bruce left he told us to have patience that insurance Companies send out 2-4 roofers to get bids and this won't happen over night. If you need a new roof or a repair call there office at 1(360)825-1356 or 1(800)825-1356. Lisia in the office also helped us by keeping us informed and is really nice. Give Bruce's Roofing a call if you want great service, a true professional roofer and a hard working bunch of guys and gals and yes, he did all five roofs. more

Great Roofing Company 4/12/2011

We had a big wind storm and my shake roof was in pieces. I called around and the only roofer out of 20 to come out the same day was Bruce's Roofing at 5:30 pm. Two hours after I called them they were knocking on my door (Bruce's Roofing). It felt really good that the owner, Bruce himself was doing this. He jumped up on the roof, put plastic up on the roof to cover the places the roof was miSsing pieces to keep the water damage to a minimum. Watching him do that without me asking him to do that was a great feeling. While he was up there I called my insurance company and they said they could be there in two hours. I went outside and told Bruce the insurance guy would be here in two hours and Bruce said he would wait for the insurance guy to show up. That was a really good feeling to have Bruce wait that long. Anyways, my insurance guy showed up and 2 1/2 hours later and he and Bruce got on my roof, talked a while and told me what the plan was. The plan was Bruce would be there at 8:00 am to replace my roof. Bruce's Roofing was there the next day at 8:00am sharp. By 4:00 pm the Roof was on my 3500 square ft. home (shake) and my yard cleaned up and it looked like nothing ever happed to my roof except it looked new. What a great experience. I told him I saw a bad review on here and I had a great experience and asked Bruce what was that all about. He said he's always up front, been in business since 1971 and there is always 1 person that is never happy no matter what you give them. I thought that was a great answer. For him not to name names showed great character. I RECOMMED THIS COMPANY (BRUCE'S ROOFING) FROM THE HEART IF YOU WANT PERSONAL SERVICE AND THE JOB DONE RIGHT ! more

Beware of Bruce's Roofing 10/23/2010

Bad choice to use Bruce's when they completed the roof, price from orginial $5,000 became $13,000. Bids sent all not all disclosed with back page information. Bruce was very rude when asked about the different for price after work was done. Accusing and implying that he would take the matter immediately to his legal people, no discussion on price when they've been doing this business for 20 years. WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Don't be fooled by their BBB ratings. more

Yikes! 12/18/2007

I ran across the previous note while looking up the number for Bruce's. I, to, was initially impressed with Chris, his attentiveness to the progress of our remodel, his thoroughness in explaining the roofing needs of our home, etc. He came by numerous times and all seemed good to go. When roofing day came, our yard was swarmed by about a dozen guys. No one came to the door to introduce themselves as the lead on the tear-off. our yard (formerly in Sunset Magazine) was not at all protected before hand though we had made it clear to ALL involved in our remodel that we would like all possible care taken with the yard (I know some damage will be done along the way...) Anyway, once we figured out who was in charge (Francisco), he balked at us for wanting some care taken even if it slowed the job down. The crew continued to throw not only roofing materials but also their drink cups and soda cans off the roof. VERY unprofessional. The yelling and constant banter (not roofing related) was annoying. The professionalism failed altogether with the workcrew blasting music from morning until well past 6:00 in the evening ( I had to ask them to turn it down while neighbors were coming home). There were no safety precautions taken to block the sidewalk or to alert drivers to their thoughtless placement of the worktruck. When I contacted Chris about the overall balyhoo at the house, I was turfed to the owner's son who came out and shrugged off our concerns. The work went on, the mess, loud music, shouting and pop can disbursement continued. My neighbors will not be hiring Bruce's. Today, Raynproof is installing a roof across the street. No shouting, no free-for-all, their trucks are marked and thoughtfully parked to allow traffic thru our tight neighborhood. thirty years from now I'll get to look 'em up! more

Bruce's Roofing 1/10/2007

We just got a new roof on our house. We got a bunch of bids. I decided that A Better Roofing and Bruce's Roofing were my two favorites. We had a leak and Bruce's was able to do our roof almost two months sooner than A Better, so we went with Bruce's. I regret that decision. Like all companies, your experience is based on the individuals who work for the company. Here is who Bruce's sent to our house: foreman: Gabriel (Gabriel worked with 6 men to replace the actual roof) "carpenter": Mike G. (with a young assistant) bid by Chris B. (estimator) Gabriel and his crew did the roof. They were fantastic. They were efficient, polite, hard-working and appear to have done a very good job. The only advice I would give to a customer of Gabriel is to be sure to specifically ask him to protect and cover things with plastic and plywood BEFORE starting demolition (tearing off the roof). I think this is an issue with most roofers, though. And I imagine there is even more pressure to work fast since Bruce's prides itself on the one-day roof (our project took much longer) Overall, I would highly recommend working with Gabriel. Mike was supposed to do the carpentry. He was really disorganized. He was not here as many hours as he claimed. He never finished the job. He had a lot of trouble with very basic issues, like measuring. Gabriel and the other roofers finished as much of Mike's job as they could, but some was just left undone. He did a good job with the parts he did, but doing 1/3 of a job is simply not acceptable. To clarify: We paid by the job for the roofing and by the hour for the carpentry. All of these guys are employees of Bruce's roofing. Chris bid the project. He was really nice when he bid and I liked the guy. When problems arose (e.g. carpentry left unfinished), he got angry and implied that we were being extremely difficult clients by expecting them to finish the job. We have a pile of unused wood on our front porch and pieces of the trim and other carpentry aspects are just undone. I am a little unclear on why Chris and Mike think this is our fault. Was Mike just supposed to do the carpentry that interested him and we, the clients, were supposed to finish it for him? Chris appears to have an anger management problem. We have always been very calm and polite with him. He is beligerent and rude back. Last week, he came on Wednesday and left a bill at our house for us. On Friday, he threatened to put a lien on our house. (Normally, you put a lien on somebody's house when they never pay the bill). Why on earth would you put a lien on somebody's house when you just gave them the bill? We never even hinted at not wanting to pay the bill. All I can think of is that he considered this a pre-emptive strike, assuming that we might not want to pay a bill for a job left undone. Whatever the reasons, it was extraordinarily rude and aggressive. I really, really don't want to get in a legal battle with these guys over almost nothing. I have no idea why the estimator has the desire to escalate such a small problem into a legal battle, but I will continue to try and diffuse the situation. So, I cannot recommend Bruce's Roofing. The roofers were great, but the carpentry problems and the extreme rude and agressive behaviour of the estimator negated the good work of the guys who actually did the work. I have spent far too much time on this. If you have a simple situation where you just need a roof (e.g. a new house), then they would probably be great. If you have an older home and will need work done with the wood as well, call somebody else. I was really impressed with Alan Lynch, who bid our roof from A Better Roofing Company. Their phone number is 206.935.1575. Since we did not hire them, we will never know how good of a job they would have done, but I would recommend calling them. I wish we had hired A Better instead of Bruce's. And, if you are looking at roofers, I can tell you that the one company people continually warned me to avoid is Jorve roofing. One friend recommended North Creek Roofing. We got a bid from them and I no longer remember why we chose not to pursue it. They were nice, though, and I imagine they would do a good job. more
