Rude and overly expensive service department 3/30/2007

I purchased a used 2003 Volvo XC70 from another dealer. I thought I would check out using Sandberg Volvo for service. What a mistake. I am so glad I had done some research before I went in. What I needed was a 60,000 mile service. The lady in the service department barely had time to acknowledge me when I arrived, even though there were no other customers to be seen. I asked what it would cost to have the service done, she quoted me $625. I about dropped to the floor. All the research I had done on the Internet showed that the service should cost somewhere between $240 - $280 dollars. I showed the lady a print out from www.edmunds.com of the services that should be performed and what the costs should be. She could not give any kind of explanation as to why they would charge SO much more, except they use genuine Volvo parts. I checked around to other auto service centers and was given quotes in the $240 - $280 range, just as my research had indicated the price would be. All of the other service centers said they use genuine Volvo parts as well. The lady in the Volvo service center could care less that I had even walked in the door and she seemed relieved that I walked right back out. I won't be walking back in anytime soon. more
