The owners moved to Arlington from Heidelberg thrity years ago and brought one of the finest traditions of Germany with them- a complete bakery, pastry shop, and confectionary. Everything is made upstairs, and the sales floor is a dizzying array of stuff that tastes so good it's hard to be restrained. The chocolates are made upstairs and while a little pricy at $25/lb (compare to Godiva at around $45/lb- not too bad) are better than any other chocolates I've ever tasted. Marzipan and other candies fill one side of the shop, with fresh doughnuts, breads, and all sorts of stuff that is just a joy to even look at. There is a good deli and if you ask to try a piece of something, they'll generally let you. This is great with the chocolates- they're real generous this way. They also make good wedding cakes, and are one of the cheapest around. Considering as they make some of the best cakes I've tasted, it's a natural place to shop.
