Went to lunch at Rikki Rikki today with a client after their signing appointment for a new condo and we were looking forward to a lovely celebratory lunch. Since we are both sushi fans (and my client had lived in Tokyo for a year) we figured this would be a great spot. For years I've been going here and today would have to be the first time I would not rank it on the higher side of Eastside sushi places. It was okay, the value was good, but the fish lacked the flavor I was expecting - including the salmon, which is normally one of the more strong flavored fish on a plate of sashimi.
I'll continue to visit Rikki Rikki but my adoration of them has been slightly diminished. My client didn't have anything negative to say but he didn't rave about it either - a sign I don't consider to be necessarily good. For sushi afficionados you know that if you've had awesome sushi you'll be talking about it afterward. I hope my next visit causes me to edit this up to a higher rating.
