If you are tired of those big, impersonal national chain bookstores, Carmichael's is the place to go. Carmichael's is small, but very warm and welcoming. They carry a wide selection of books and magazines, and the friendly staff is knowledgeable and ready to help (although they won't harass you to make a sale). The place has a lot of old charm, down to the uneven, somewhat slanted floor. Definitely a place to check out when you head down to Bardstown Road for dinner or coffee.
