We installed a $10,000 sun shade system from a company (EGE Sun Systems) that Rainier acquired months afterwards. The motorized mechanisms malfunctioned. When I called Rainier, they stated that they "service past EGE customers" but there was no mention of billing us. Also, there was no mention that our warranty would not be honored by Rainier, even though they bought EGE Sun Systems. When they arrived, it took them 10 minutes to diagnose and fix (tension set too high during install). My wife stood outside with them and watched them work. Then they billed us $250 for their service call although they had no "work authorization" from us. More discussion ensued. They finally agreed that $250 for 10 minutes of work on a improperly installed product was unreasonable. More discussion ensued. Finally they agreed to resolve the issue, though I did pay something, but still refuses to recognize the warranty. I feel that this may be for the Washington State Attorney General to decide if the problem recurs.
