This is probably the best place to see movies in Brooklyn. It is within the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and centrally located just off Flatbush Ave. in downtown Brooklyn. There are a few theaters and usually a great selection of films - not necessarily the Hollywood blockbusters, but the best in U.S. and international cinema. In addition to showing new releases, they have curated series of films by directors or from a certain country, film festivals, and special screenings of independent films. I especially like the fact that the Rose Cinema tends to attract serious movie viewers - you will rarely hear cell phones going off or people chatting during the films. A fabulous resource for anyone interested in following the best in serious film.
