University of Michigan Credit Union is a must for people living in Ann Arbor, especially for those who go to school there. It is totally free to open and have a checking or saving account there. Their saving accounts often offer much higher interest rates compared to other banks. During the summer, you can buy tickets to Cedar Points through them. Also, they have a message board that you can post ads ( we sold our TV through that system).
