The Heathman is a fabulous hotel hidden behind a local mall. It's definitely one of the top hotels in Vancouver, and while it's not top of the line luxury, it's still a very nice place to stay.
The lodge style is charming, but not too rustic. The hotel rooms are also lodge style and very pleasant. The prices are generally higher than in other area hotels, but it is also better service and a better kept room. You can find "internet specials" from time to time on their website that significantly discount the cost of a room.
The lobby is a perfect place for meeting people, with its enormous fireplace and comfortable chairs. There are meeting rooms available for rental downstairs that are also quite nice. And the restaurant, Hudson's, is award-winning and worth the extra money you'll spend to enjoy a meal there.
This is definitely our fallback hotel: the kind of place you can comfortably send your in-laws and relatives, knowing that they'll be well cared for. And if you go, you'll be well cared for too.
