One day my wife and I were going to weekend sales in NJ when we came upon a church rummage sale. We walked in and we could tell that it had been very picked over. We were just going to leave when my wife spotted a clear glass jar behind the checkout desk that was being used to hold an assortment of old, small items. She asked the woman if it was for sale as a lot. She said it was 3.00. Later I asked my wife why she had bought it. “You’ll see.” She replied.
She brought it home and dumped it out on the table. There were some manicure items in the jar along with various other things. In the middle of it all there was a pair of tweezers. They were marked 14K.
A week later we brought them to Gold Rush Refiners and let them look at the pair. They said that this was the first pair that they had ever seen although they had heard that people used them in the 1940s for “sanitary” reasons. Later I asked my wife how she knew and she told me she had bought one years ago that was exactly the same. I am so glad she new of Gold Rush Refiners. We used the 500.00 to have a nice meal that night and used the rest for necessities.
