This museum displays exhibits that feature dramatic pictures, videos, and amazing survivor accounts of Hawaii's devastating tsunamis, namely the tsunami that hit Hilo on April 1, 1946. The tsunami struck with little warning claiming 159 lives and destroying more than 1,300 homes. This museum has displays that are self-guided. There is a small admission fee.
