Admit it. Not much is happening in Delaware, Ohio in terms of fancy, gourmet and exotic foods. Delaware only very narrowly escapes the doom of the most American small towns - having their downtowns become ghost-towns. Ohio Wesleyan University keeps things going and hopefully businesses like Avesta keep on popping up and staying open for a while (say, 5 years minimum).
Avesta looks like a little European coffee shop, but I frequent it mostly for its full-restaurant food. It is pretty and cosy inside. I assume it would be easy to strike a conversation with strangers, tables in Avesta are close to each other without any dividers. (You have to try for yourself, I was always in excellent company and busy enough with what I already had). The restaurant is attended mostly by folks connected to the university. How about food? Some of the stuff they have served me has been average, but now I pretty much know what is good there. Try for any of their excellent middle-eastern foods (falafel + gyros type of stuff) for a flavorful and beautifully presented meal. They also have Chinese and other types of dishes as well as luscious martinis in some very interesting varieties.
My grade is “good” - I am very picky - it should be “great“, considering this is going on in Delaware and any effort taken by local businesses saves me a trip to Columbus. Keep it going Avesta!
