Japanese Grocer and Food Court 8/23/2005

Mitsuwa is the largest Japanese grocery store in Chicago, if not the Midwest. Not only does the store carry numerous Japanese items, there are also selections from other Asian countries (i.e. China, Korea, Thailand...). There are also small stores within the complex, ranging from a wine/beer shop, ceramic dish ware, travel agency, bookstore, toy store, cosmetics, and bakeries. There is also a food court that is very busy especially during the weekends. Most of the restaurants are Japanese but there is also a Chinese and Korean restaurant as well. There is also a large prepackaged sushi selection that one can take home or eat in the food court. There is not much of a dessert selection, though in the past there have been ice cream, crepes, and shakes that have been sold. All in all, it is a good place to go if one wants to experience Japanese food/culture in a broad manner. more
