Panos himself runs this little 24-to-28-top space squeezed in between the Great Nabob and Caffe Vita on 5th Ave N. of downtown. It's real alright -- so much so that you find Panos gone on holiday in Greece if you try him in the wrong month. The dishes all come from his family recipes, and the waitresses are happy to pronounce anything that you can't (and let you know which house dishes are the ones you don't want to miss). Start out with the Tatziki & Pita -- the bread is right out of the oven. Lamb dishes are also fantastic.
