I was headed home from SF when my check engine light came on and my car started shaking violently. I had no idea what was going on but my car was not drivable. Of course it was 5:00pm on a Saturday. Not being familiar with the area I checked the yelp reviews on the mechanics nearby (my insurance would only tow me 11 miles) and decided to called Golden Gate Auto Repair. Even though they were technically closed, the owner answered the phone and told me to have it towed over - he would even wait. I towed my car over and waited for a phone call Monday morning. I seriously expected the worst, I could SEE my engine shaking like crazy. Well it turned out to be a broken valve, he fixed it that day and I was back on the road. I was impressed with how quickly he fixed the problem, his no nonsense attitude and extremely reasonable price. He also didn't give me the ""this is what else is wrong with your car"" talk which I have come to expect with most mechanics. Overall if I become unexpectedly stranded in Fairfield again I will take my car to Golden Gate Auto Repair.
