I recently stopped into Precious Metals and Gems. May I rot in hello with a needle in my eye, 4 molars that have to be pulled, kidneys stones that won't quit, gall stone, and diverticulitis before I ever walk into that establishment again. I had the misfortune of meeting Phil, the owner. I was told by someone he would help me. I truly believe he has changed a very popular phrase by store owners to ""the customer is always wrong"". He made me feel like I was imposing on him. He was truly the rudest business owner I have ever met and I'm quite sure he will be the rudest shop owner I will ever meet until the day I die. Maybe he changes if someone comes in wearing a $5,000.00 suit and since I wasn't dressed like the money I have (which I don't like to do just to see how I'm treated) I actually did business with that location quite a while ago and really didn't give it much thought since at that time I needed what they call mad money. Money that makes your wife mad if she finds it.the money. I sold him a ring and he gave me $225.00 telling me he was making $50.00. I was fooled by what I perceived as honesty since who really computes how much you're getting taken for while you're in a hurry. I was in a hurry so I didn't bother to figure it out. I later did and what I came up with angered me. Let me explain. He made $50.00 on $225.00. Right off the bat, that's 22.5%. Doesn't sound to bad until you figure he's making 22.5% in ONE day. If you amortize that over one year or 365 days it comes to a profit of 22.5 X 365= 8,213% profit! Can you imagine going into an automobile dealership (which everybody picks on), looking at a car that the dealer paid $30,000.00 yesterday for, and him telling you with a smile, ""I'll sell it to you for the low price of say, $249,390,000.00. You'd probably faint. In case you can't see the comma, thats eight thousand, two hundred and thirteen percent profit. So, I guess I'm saying, if you don't mind paying someone over (at least in my case) 8,000% profit then bring your metals to him. To some it up, if you're thinking of having a school, called RUDE SCHOOL, you want to have Phil as either your instructor or at least a guest speaker, if you don't mind him being rude to you. He really doesn't care if you're a customer or not, he'll adapt or simply let his true personality shine through, just plain rude! more
