PetMed Vet, Antioch, TN\r October 13 ?\r ""Our Tuesday Tech of the Week is Ms. Laura. Laura is a licensed veterinary medical technician who has been with PetMed for 14 years. ...Thank you Laura, for everything you do!!!"" from PetMed FB Page posted 10/13\r \r I guess PetMed rewards employees with ""Tech of the Week"" for October 13th when their negligence killed my dog on 10/9. Obviously a ""sympathy award"" due to negligence or a CYA due to what happened 3 days prior. Laura Sigler brought me my dog at noon to send her home after a procedure when Chloe was clearly in respiratory distress. Any person with a brain (and especially a licensed professional trained to care for animals) could see she was in respiratory distress. When I asked Laura about her harsh breathing, SHE WAS VERY DISMISSIVE, DID NOT BOTHER TO LOOK AT HER, SHRUGGED HER SHOULDERS AND CALLED IT EXCITEMENT TO SEE ME AND THE DOCTOR WOULD BE IN BUT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY AND SHE ""DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE ALWAYS FELT HE NEEDED TO SEE THE PET AND OWNER ONE LAST TIME BUT THAT IS JUST WHAT HE DOES"". \r When Dr Girone came in thinking he was only debriefing me on the procedure and how to care for her over the next few days, I told him about Chloe's breathing and what was just said. He immediately took her to listen to her lungs and rushed for an X-ray, returned and said she had ""developed symptoms of an infection since he saw her a 9 am"" because at 9 she sounded good and then said ""now her color is really bad and was breathing up to 80 breaths a minute""(this ""trained tech"" did not even notice this). Dr. Girone put her in an oxygen tent immediately and then would not let me see her so she could rest and get as much oxygen as possible. Chloe's breathing was hard and her little body was collapsing in on each inhale. (Think of an accordion going in and out while played.) Chloe later had to be rushed to an emergency vet hospital by Dr. Girone and Laura Sigler, the Vet Tech. When I met Dr. Girone and this tech at the emergency vet, Dr. Girone asked Laura Sigler to come back with us to talk and answer questions for the emergency vet, Laura refused to go answer questions. When Dr.Girone was talking to the emergency vet it was also said she was only given a mild antibiotic due to the previous surgery but did not mention any stronger antibiotics given once the infection was realized. He also said that Chloe did not get any fluid in her lungs during surgery it had to have been later. A stronger antibiotic was given at the e vet around 6pm. Chloe died at 9 that evening.\r \r I am sure Laura Sigler will work hard to have a post removed about her negligence but has no problem talking negative about a famous ex and I am sure receiving money for selling the stories. Do your job and pay attention to the animals left in your care! If Laura Sigler cared as much about observing my dog as she does about contributing stories to trash mags about an ex, Chloe might have had a fighting chance by receiving aggressive care much sooner. Laura should not own or be around animals if she can't recognize respiratory distress or even listen to a owner, you need a job where you are not responsible for a life.\r \r If you take your animal to this clinic, make sure Laura Sigler will not handle or have any responsibility in caring for your beloved pet. Dr Girone initially seemed professional and prompt when he saw Chloe struggling, but I found it very distasteful and unprofessional for giving a ""Tech of the Week"" on social media to someone that can not recognize that an animal is in extreme distress! PetMed made us pay almost $300 and then over $800 for the E Vet due to PetMeds negligence. Money will never bring Chloe back but Dr Girone and Laura Sigler should take financial responsibility due to her willing to send Chloe home in critical condition. Laura Sigler proved lack of training or just not caring when she did not visually recognize or even feel Chloe struggling to breath and still thought she was ok to go home. more
