PetMed Vet, Antioch, TN\r October 13 ?\r ""Our Tuesday Tech of the Week is Ms. Laura. Laura is a licensed veterinary medical technician who has been with PetMed for 14 years. ...Thank you Laura, for everything you do!!!"" from PetMed FB Page posted 10/13\r \r I guess PetMed rewards employees with ""Tech of the Week"" for October 13th when their negligence killed my dog on 10/9. Obviously a ""sympathy award"" due to negligence or a CYA due to what happened 3 days prior. Laura Sigler brought me my dog at noon to send her home after a procedure when Chloe was clearly in respiratory distress. Any person with a brain (and especially a licensed professional trained to care for animals) could see she was in respiratory distress. When I asked Laura about her harsh breathing, SHE WAS VERY DISMISSIVE, DID NOT BOTHER TO LOOK AT HER, SHRUGGED HER SHOULDERS AND CALLED IT EXCITEMENT TO SEE ME AND THE DOCTOR WOULD BE IN BUT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY AND SHE ""DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE ALWAYS FELT HE NEEDED TO SEE THE PET AND OWNER ONE LAST TIME BUT THAT IS JUST WHAT HE DOES"". \r When Dr Girone came in thinking he was only debriefing me on the procedure and how to care for her over the next few days, I told him about Chloe's breathing and what was just said. He immediately took her to listen to her lungs and rushed for an X-ray, returned and said she had ""developed symptoms of an infection since he saw her a 9 am"" because at 9 she sounded good and then said ""now her color is really bad and was breathing up to 80 breaths a minute""(this ""trained tech"" did not even notice this). Dr. Girone put her in an oxygen tent immediately and then would not let me see her so she could rest and get as much oxygen as possible. Chloe's breathing was hard and her little body was collapsing in on each inhale. (Think of an accordion going in and out while played.) Chloe later had to be rushed to an emergency vet hospital by Dr. Girone and Laura Sigler, the Vet Tech. When I met Dr. Girone and this tech at the emergency vet, Dr. Girone asked Laura Sigler to come back with us to talk and answer questions for the emergency vet, Laura refused to go answer questions. When Dr.Girone was talking to the emergency vet it was also said she was only given a mild antibiotic due to the previous surgery but did not mention any stronger antibiotics given once the infection was realized. He also said that Chloe did not get any fluid in her lungs during surgery it had to have been later. A stronger antibiotic was given at the e vet around 6pm. Chloe died at 9 that evening.\r \r I am sure Laura Sigler will work hard to have a post removed about her negligence but has no problem talking negative about a famous ex and I am sure receiving money for selling the stories. Do your job and pay attention to the animals left in your care! If Laura Sigler cared as much about observing my dog as she does about contributing stories to trash mags about an ex, Chloe might have had a fighting chance by receiving aggressive care much sooner. Laura should not own or be around animals if she can't recognize respiratory distress or even listen to a owner, you need a job where you are not responsible for a life.\r \r If you take your animal to this clinic, make sure Laura Sigler will not handle or have any responsibility in caring for your beloved pet. Dr Girone initially seemed professional and prompt when he saw Chloe struggling, but I found it very distasteful and unprofessional for giving a ""Tech of the Week"" on social media to someone that can not recognize that an animal is in extreme distress! PetMed made us pay almost $300 and then over $800 for the E Vet due to PetMeds negligence. Money will never bring Chloe back but Dr Girone and Laura Sigler should take financial responsibility due to her willing to send Chloe home in critical condition. Laura Sigler proved lack of training or just not caring when she did not visually recognize or even feel Chloe struggling to breath and still thought she was ok to go home. more

I took my beloved long haired dachshund Wolfy to Pet Med almost since the day I brought him home until the day he died @ 18 years and 5 months and I continue to bring my Golden mix Nilla there. The doctors and staff have treated Wolfy, Nilla and me like family. The quality of care is outstanding, and I could not be happier. When it came time to let my ""Lil Buddy"" go, everyone there was absolutely wonderful. I would recommend Pet Med to anyone.\r \r Ken Accrino more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/9/2014

We have used Petmed for 20 years and have the pleasure of having Dr. Girone as our Veterinarian. He has taken care of 6 of our dogs over the years and have always received compassion, professionalism, outstanding service and knowledge, state of the art equipment that can identify an issue quickly, fantastic staff that treats your pet as their pet. Their awards and credentials speak to such a professional establishment (AAHA, Nashville Scene Award Best Vet Place, and so many more). But most of all the friendship and you feel part of a family. When your dog is hurting they are very concerned, when you loose your dog they have a tremendous amount of empathy and understanding to loosing a family member. You can't ask for any other Veterinarian that is better. We have to drive 40 min to his place and there are several Vet Hospitals around our home but we want the best and it's worth the drive by far. You can't ask for anything better than Petmed!!! They even have options for payment plans. more

Great Service for 10 years! 4/27/2014

I have taken my cat to Petmed for the past 10 years and have received nothing but the finest care. Dr. Girone (owner) is highly competent and seasoned, having practiced for 25+ years and Dr. Merrow is pretty wonderful herself. Overall, all of my experiences with the vets there have been good ones - not only are they all caring and competent, but they have gone above and beyond the call of duty on many, many occastions. Kudos to Petmed!! more

I have been going to PetMed since 2009. First, I adopted a cat and then in 2012 I adopted a dog that had been abandoned. PetMed is the best! I have boarded both animals and I have also used the veterinarian services. I have received excellent care for my animals. Also, the receptionists are always very helpful and nice! I recommended PetMed to one of my neighbors, so hopefully, he will check out PetMed for his dog too! more

Love Dr. Girone, Laura and Amy! 4/20/2012

I am extremely saddened to just find out that Dr. Carroll is no longer with PetMed. Noone was able to tell me where she went so I have no idea how to reach her. She has been our Pet Doctor for many years and I am very attached to her. She is caring and extremely personable. She always gives her undivided attention. If anyone knows how I can reach her please tell me! Thanks, Barbie Pros: null Cons: null more

I LOVE PetMed 3/24/2010

The staff know us & our dogs & they go out of their way to help. I have a dog that has been fighting health issues for years and Dr. Girone has always done everything he can to keep up to date on the latest info to help him. I wouldn't go anywhere else with my babies. more

Excellent care - They stayed open late to see my injured pup 7/22/2009

My puppy had what I thougth was broken leg, rushed to Clinic for treatment. They stayed past closing time, treated dog and me with respect. They followed up with call nest day to check on "Freckles." Pros: Arrived at 10 minutes after closing with injured dog. Cons: Crossing Bell Road traffic @ rush hour. - But worth it. more

Wonderful Vet Wonderful Service 5/1/2009

After having gone to a different vet in town and having an incredibly bad experience, it was really refreshing to go to PetMed and be greeted warmly both by the staff and by the vet himself. They were prompt, very explanatory about the issues that my dog has and upfront about pricing. Pros: Nice Staff, Convenient, Professional more

The best in Nashville! 5/8/2008

I can't say enough good things about Petmed! I'm definitely a protective dog owner and don't trust my dog to just anyone. I drive half an hour to get to them because they are so wonderful to my dog. We faithfully use their grooming and vet services. My dog has a thick, long coat (part Chow) and a lot of groomers want to charge an arm and a leg to groom her- but not Petmed! And they do a beautiful job! My dog looks so cute when she emerges from the back with a bandana around her neck after each haircut! The vets have been more than wonderful to us. They are so kind and knowledgeable. We've been there for appointment visits and also as a walk-in. Each time they got us right in and were awesome about answering every question I had. The staff is just crazy about animals and it shows! Every one is so sweet and you never have to wait long for anything. I'm so happy we found them! Pros: Kind; Quick; Knowledgeable; a GREAT value; Friendly staff Cons: Can't think of any! more

Everyone welcome here! 3/21/2008

This place is a great find for me and by two dogs. The doctors are ALL very nice and knowledgeable. Dr Morgan has been especially helpful to me. Our first visit to Petmeds was with a stray rescue with a host of medical issues!! They greeted us with open arms and minds, and provided exceptional service and care. They helped us save this doggie?s life! No animal is turned away here. The great service continues with at home follow up calls and reminder mailers. I believe that these doctors and staff (even the receptionist who has always been nice to me!) have the biggest hearts and finest animal care around. Also, any time that I call with questions they are nothing but polite and helpful. It is true, they are not a ?value vet? but you always get what you pay for ? remember that. I suggest making an appointment to avoid waiting; however the service IS STILL worth it. Highly recommended! Pros: hours, service, friendly staff Cons: location - that's about it! more

Average 11/11/2007

I have a lab with several health problems so I've been to PetMed about 5 times now. Sometimes the service and vet are good and at other times not so good. My lab was misdiagnosed with ringworms and the vet told me that she would follow up with bone and joint health information but never did. The vet that I originally used there missed a couple of scheduled appointments and we were passed on to another vet and it was like starting all over. The facility is nice and clean and the hours are good. Pros: Nice faclities, good hours. Cons: Vets are average and do not follow up. more

puppy love 4/10/2007

From the first time I stepped foot in the door, my pets and I were treated with nothing but respect. One thing folks need to remeber is that when you go into any clinic, human or pet, as a walk in, you can expect a wait, save yourself the time and make an appointment. The staff at PetMed is wonderful and caring, my dogs enjoy coming to the clinic to visit all these wonderful folks, they don't typically like to go anywhere. ( scarry) I have sat in the lobby and heard the horror stories for other people that were in this clinic to help "fix" somethings another clinic may have done, or not done, they get lots of referrals from other clinics, and I for one can say I know why: dedication, commitment, respect and compassion. As far as the pricing, anyone that has not learned in life that you get what you pay for has a hard road ahead. The prices may be a bit higher, but I also get a higher level of professionalism and a fabulous piece of mind knowing my pets are seen by the best!!! I am in this place all the time, I can pretty much gaurantee that no Doctor in that place told someone their 8 week old kitten only needed 1 set of vaccinations, not in this place. Pros: Dedication first and foremost to my pets Cons: busy road out front, but worth the wait to turn in. more

Horrible service, incompetent vets 3/21/2007

The receptionists at PetMed are snotty and aloof, and the vets are incompetent. I adopted an 8-week-old kitten from Animal Control and took him to PetMed to get checked out and get started on his shots. The vet I saw said that he just had ear mites and gave me one round of Revolution to treat them. Also, she said he would only need one set of shots (come on -- an 8-week-old kitten only needing one set of shots? Everyone knows better than that!). About a week later I had to take my other cat in for urinary tract problems. I ended up leaving him there for the day and when I came to pick him up, the vet didn?t even come out to explain the antibiotics she had prescribed. They just handed the cat back to me, said good luck, and I never heard from them again. Needless to say, I found another vet immediately. The ?ear mites? on my kitten never got better, probably because when I took him to a new vet, they took the time to do an ear smear and determined that it wasn?t even ear mites, but a yeast infection which requires a totally different antibiotic. Also, he needed 2 more rounds of shots. The new vet also took the time to explain all of the urinary tract problems my other cat was having, even brought in books with pictures to show me what was happening. PetMed?s prices for the minimal work they did on my cats was outrageous! At my new vet, we got new shots, new prescriptions, new tests, and I spent less money there than I did for two 5-minute visits at PetMed. PetMed is a rip off and I definitely do not recommend them to anyone! Pros: The office was clean and they have good hours. Cons: Everything else -- snobby receptionists, clueless vets, lack of compassion, high prices. more

Caring Staff! 11/14/2006

I hate having to find a new doctor for myself or my pets. Pedmeds was wonderful. Caring staff. The vet techs and the doctors are very kind. They are a little on the pricey side, but they are not out of line on their charges. I'm a firm believer that in many cases you get what you pay for, and the health of my pet is important to me. If you have ever had a bad vet, you will agree. Pros: Staff, services Cons: price, not like I said, not out of line. more

Compassionate and Friendly Staff 9/1/2006

I brought my dog in to Petmed to have the doctor check a possible ear infection. From the time I walked into the clinic to the exam of my pet I was treated with respect and my dog was treated like she was top priority. Both the doctor and the staff were professonal and answered all the questions I had in detail. I was also really behind on my dogs vaccines and the doctor emphasized how important they were to keep my dog healthy. It's nice to know that some doctors still care about their patients and are willing to go above and beyond to take good care of them. Nice to see a vet clinic doing a good job!!! Pros: nice clinic Cons: lots of traffic around the area..but worth it more
