I rented a Ford Focus in Las Vegas. If you reserve and pay on line, you can skip the counter. I have done this with Alamo the last 2 times and it works very well. Take a shuttle to the rental center, walk to the cars, pick out one in the size you reserved and drive to the gate. They check your reservation and drivers license. Within about 10 minutes you are on the road. The only wait I had was for a lane to check out. There were 3 lanes open and about 5 cars total checking out. Overall it was a very smooth process.
