We recently had new dental insurance and had to go with Aspen dental, my husband went there and came back with 5 pages of things that needs to be done on his teeth that were never mentioned by our old dentist, they listed all these silver fillings that need to be switched to white fillings and scaling and was charged for antibiotics and all unnecessary work, I then took my daughter in because she needs her wisdom teeth out for them to book her appointment I had to pay a $1083 in advance her appointment is on 12/19/14, then I went in for my appointment and I have had no issues with my teeth according to my dentist that I have been going to for over 20 years not according to Aspen dental….. I got there for a teeth cleaning. I was also rushed around from one person to the next. First I got a ton of x-rays (I brought a set from my previous dentist, they said the x-rays were no good ) then the hygienist came in to check my gums. She randomly shouted out numbers regarding spacing between tooth and gums, the numbers were doubled the number my previous dentist would state. Also, the gum/tooth spacing should be done after a cleaning to give a clearer ration. I've been diligent about going to dentists every 6 months my whole life and was never told anything like this. The dentist saw me after an extremely long wait and said I have gum disease (?!?!!?!). I asked if I was going to get a cleaning, they said no, that I need to have my gums cleaned. There is nothing wrong with my gums nor do I have gum disease, my previous dentist, the same person I went to for years and was friendly with, would have alerted me to any gum issues. I said I would like my teeth cleaned and then measure again before I do the scaling I was told that cannot be done they will not do my cleaning unless I do and pay for the scaling and if I don’t do that I should leave and should cancel my daughters appointment…..Then I was told I must speak to the office manager, I felt like I was now in trouble and going to the principal's office. I told him and the young entry level dentist that I've never had issues with my teeth, this was a joke and I am calling my insurance. By far this is the worse experience I have had at a medical office, my primary doctors and my pediatricians are great I have had them for years and this is defiantly a business not a medical office all they want is your money and there service is horrible. I am going with a different dental plan so I do not have to go to them any more.
