I would recommend Kinderhook Small Animal Hospital to any one! I have been bringing my pup Cassie there for 5 yrs now. When ever I have a question about any thing, the staff are always there to answer any of them. They always give great advice about your pets health and go beyond there means to make your pet (pets) better if they are sick. They never hesitate on making an appointment when its necessary. The office hrs are great and so are the staff. When my pup was a puppy (a couple of months old) I noticed that she developed a rash and was licking her rear end so I called his office and they told me that she probably needed her anal glands expressed and that she should be seen for the rash. I made the appointment for both issues and in the process of this he thought that she might have an allergy to beef and beef products. He recommended that we try the process of elimination first before doing the shots because the shots could be very costly. He also thought that once we have her spayed it should help with the allergy. He was right once again. When Cassie was a couple of days away from turning 5 yrs old I noticed that her lymph nodes in her neck were swollen and he told us that he thought it might be Lymphosarcoma and we should do a biopsy to make sure if it was or wasn't. I had the biopsy done and the price wasn't that bad for every thing. During her recovery from the surgery he called us to see how she was doing. I spoke to him personally and told him she was doing great. When he got the results back from pathology I once again spoke to him personally and it turned out that it was Lymphosarcoma. What that meant was she had cancer in her Lymph-nodes. I had to make another appointment to have her stitches taken out. During our appointment he showed us a lot of compassion and was sad also. He told us about different options we had and what some of the prices would range from. He also never hesitated to recommend us to see an oncologist if we wanted to. We decided to see the oncologist and they work together with each other on my pup Cassie's over all health. She is 2 chemo treatments in to her regimen and she is doing great. She has an amazing appetite, playful, and goes every 2 weeks for her chemo therapy treatments. After she had the second treatment done she developed a light green nasal discharge so I called Doctor Southards office and he said that its probably a secondary infection from the treatments and high dose of Prednisone. He put her on an antibiotic and told me to call them in a couple of days to let them know how she was doing. She no longer has the light green nasal discharge and is doing great. He always makes my pup feel at ease, pets her, talks to her and he is very very gentle. He has a calm demeanor, listens to every thing you say and asks questions to properly diagnose any problems if they arise. I will continue to take my pup Cassie there until her time comes and will bring any more of my pets there in the future. I will always and continue recommend Doctor Southard and his staff to any one. They are great and I couldn't ask for a better veterinarian. I am more than extremely pleased and will continue to give him my business.\r
