The rental was in great shape and the service people were friendly enough, what really turned me sour on the experience was how I was dealt with in light of Hurricane Sandy.
I was scheduled to return the vehicle a day after the storm cleared out, however due to effects of the storm - gas shortages, and HOURS of traffic backing up the highway (the only access to the facility) - I was forced to return the vehicle the next morning.
I was charged for the extra day. Pretty appalling. I hadn't even returned to see if my home was still standing (I live down the shore) and I took a financial hit for something that neither I, they, nor anybody in the tri-state area had any control over.
So yeah, even though the rates were fine and the vehicle was nice, I'll never be doing business with Value Auto Rental again. Glad you guys had power.

Ms. Hewitt, I apologize for the extra charge. I will be crediting your account for the extra day charge. I have looked into this and can not explain why you were charged. The days after the storm were hectic here. Perhaps you were charged in error. This does not sound like our business policies, we are normally very accomodating in extreme situations. Again, I apologize you account has been credited.
