Please work on your bedside manner!!!!\r
I went in for my first prenatal visit today, for my first pregnancy and estimated I was with a doctor just about half the time I was there, which was around 2 hrs. The rest of the time I sat in the exam room, waiting. It felt like the dr was extremely busy and rushed, the ultrasound tech was the same, didn't even look me in the face. She didn't volunteer any information, I had to ask her what the things on the screen were. Found out that I have a cyst and that the Dr would discuss it with me back in the exam room. Fair enough, this is my first pregnancy and I have a lot of questions that I'm sure they get asked all the time. But I don't do this often and I don't appreciate having to talk over the assistant or Dr to express something I'm concerned about! After the ultrasound, the Dr breezed through a bunch of info she'd printed out for me (apparently we're to consult lists instead of having our questions answered face to face!), did not discuss the cyst (though she did pop a pamphlet on cystic fibrosis in my folder, which gives me a even more questions) and eventually asked if I had any questions. I asked ONE question, the first of many I'd prepared, and she left the room as she was answering it! She didn't give me a chance to ask anything else or even tell me my due date! I had to ask the assistant!! \r
I'm coming back for another appointment in a few weeks and this is your last chance. If I feel like you're rushing to get me through, like cattle or something, or don't let me ask questions, I'm changing hospitals. I am extremely disappointed with my visit and you managed to make what should have been exciting and special, feel unimportant and confusing.
