For about the past year I was having trouble breathing and noticed I was becoming weaker. I had been to the hospital quite a few times and after each time I was discharged home. I was always going back to the hospital as I was having more and more problems breathing and doing the things I used to do every day. I also found it difficult when I was at home to keep track of my medications and sometimes I didn?t know what the medications were for. During my last stay in the hospital, it was recommended that I go to a rehabilitation center instead of going home again with a nurse who would come out and check on me. I had never been to a rehabilitation center and I did not know what to expect. On June 19, 2012 I came to the Mid America Care Center. I knew that in order to go home, I needed to get stronger. I knew that I had lost weight while I was in the hospital because most of my clothes hardly fit me anymore. I began working with the therapists and dietician who taught me how to exercise and helped me to get stronger. The dietician talked to me about what foods I liked and told me more about foods to eat that would give me energy. The nurses helped me learn about my medications and what the purposes of the medications were. I needed their help to teach me about taking medications and they gave me a lot of helpful tips so I won?t forget. After about 6 weeks of living at the Mid America Care Center, working with the therapists and other staff, I felt like my old self again. I gained about 10 lbs since being there and I felt much stronger than when I first got there. I would like to thank everyone at the hospital who helped me and for recommending that I go to the Mid America Care Center. I would like to thank my doctor and the staff at the Mid America Care Center for helping me get back on my feet again. I am anticipating going back home on July 24, 2012 and I will choose the Mid America Care Center again if I ever need to come back.
