Portofino Villas look beautiful. Upon arriving you get a sense of paradise. Once you get in you realize you've been had. Let's start with the staff:
Staff:
*Rude
*Arrogant
*Inattentive
They hardly ever answer the phone. They never smile except when you hand them a check. They ignore complaints almost entirely. They put off anything and everything they can until the last minute and even then its not guaranteed it will get done. When you DO voice an issue, they will hang up the phone on you, pretend to suddenly have many tasks to complete or just downright lie to your face. The maintenance staff are completely useless for all but the simplest tasks. Had one guy install the garbage disposal incorrectly and they refused to come back out and fix it. I had to do it myself after 2 weeks. No training and I still did a better job. Maintenance staff cannot write or spell. Reading their notes is like reading a letter from a 2 year old.
Buildings:
*Infested
*Rotting
*Moldy
*Leaking
The entire complex leaks. The roofing is an embarrassment. They cover up water leaks using popcorn spray. There was a leak in my unit for a month before they came out to fix it. The next week, the leak had moved two feet over. It took 2 months before they fixed that. 2 days later the leak has become worse. They still haven't fixed it. There are HUGE water stains covering 6 square feet, the wall has rotted out from all the water inside it (to date the wall springs leaks everywhere) to the point you cannot use the wall to hang anything nor use any of the electrical outlets for fear of electrocution, the closet leaks, the neighboring unit's ceiling has collapsed 3 times, at least 4 other 4-building units have leaks that I know of, the cabinets have rotted out and most have collapsed and the bathroom plumbing smells of rancid excrement. Roaches, ants, and rats are bountiful. It took us 3 weeks before the office finally sent out pest control to get rid of the 6-inch german cockroaches. The neighbor has full grown rats living in her unit. She showed me the cabinetry where they had chewed their way in and the nests they made throughout her unit. Took 3 weeks before the office finally responded. Multiple tenants are putting everything into escrow. There is talk about class-action lawsuits. We've called the health inspector and the ordinance board to investigate code violations.
Deception:
After putting a deposit down and setting a move-in date, the office will wait to prepare a unit. Even if you put a deposit down a month in advance, they will not prep the unit until the day before. Damp carpets, walls unpainted, missing light switch covers, previous tenants garbage still in the drawers. These are the rule not the exception.
Landscape:
Trash litters the ponds. Beer bottles, fish hooks, broken plastic toys, glass, and trash litter the grounds. Holes are left uncovered throughout the complex, graffeti graces fences, walls and anything else that can be tagged. Residents park in front of fire hydrants, in the middle of the road, in the grass, and basically anywhere they can do to poor parking.
Bottom Line:
If you can afford to live here, you can afford to live somewhere else. Everything in this apartment complex reeks from the plumbing to the staff. This place gives ghettos a bad name. If you really want to move in here, you can have my place because I refuse to re-lease with these slum lords.
