Unfortunately, we had a negative experience with the LDC. At our initial (parents only) meeting, we discussed our young daughter's OCD and the MD we met with assured us they could help her. He explained the benefits of CBT and how effective it is with OCD. To come up with an individualized therapy plan for her, they would need to observe her several times to get a feel for her personality, strengths, weaknesses, etc. After many appts, much time and money spent for all this, we were told there was no way she could be a candidate for CBT and it was never done of children her age. WHAT? At our initial appt, we were assured this was the way to go and it was NEVER mentioned that doing it at her age was unlikely. INSTEAD, he was more than happy to give us a tour and info on their special preschool that costs $30K a year. That last meeting, which we had to pay for, was nothing but a sales pitch for the preschool, which might be great, but we were so turned off and disgusted by how misled we were that we are not pursuing it. He said there was nothing they could do for our child, afterall other than the preK. I feel like we were paying to be research data for them (thru the complex and lengthy child development history that took me 10 hours to complete and their 3 observations of my daughter). After MUCH wasted money and time (while she continued to get worse), we have found another place who is treating her with CBT, and it has been quite effective so far.
