-False advertizing,
-over billing almost triple, price gauging
-misrepresenting the problem, fraud, their parts and service guarantee (worthless), the parts replaced (I suspect never done), the refund and discount heating?s deceptive practice,
Jan 23, 2012: Brian from Discount Heating Cooling in Wheeling IL came out to service our furnace (a five- ten minute drive). We were informed that we had a 4 element furnace and 2 elements were not working. Brian told us he replaced 2 elements and charged us $580 for parts and $85 for the service call.
3 weeks later the furnace again failed to heat properly.
Discount was called, and said they would come out for an additional $85 dollar service call plus any additional costs if the problem was anything other than the original 2 elements. Doug, one of the owners, was not prepared to discuss their 100% satisfaction or money back guarantee - printed in bold print on his web site
We were uncomfortable with paying for another service call , and then found reviews online indicating that others had similar experiences with Discount plus other reviews that where obviously posted by friends or discount heating themselves and clearly not genuine reviews
We called A&M Southwest Heating & Air to come and check our furnace. A&M informed us that our furnace only had 2 elements, not the 4 that Discount had told us we had. When A&M tested the elements, both failed and needed to be replaced. He gave us the old elements which Discount said had been replaced, and for which we were charged. Neither of the old elements appeared to be new.
A&M charged us $236 total, $96 for parts $120 labor and $20 for the service call.
That was what we paid to fix what Doug said A&M had fixed the first time.
Discount wouldn't even come out to back up their guarantee without the additional $85 service call.
When I asked Doug why the original Discount repair man (Brian) said we had 4 elements, Doug denied that we were ever told that and yet he had not even spoken with his man at this point
When I asked Doug to compromise and refund half of the original charge, he refused. he advertizes 100% refund if not satisfied
When I asked Doug to meet to discuss the matter, he refused.
When I told Doug I was going to post a review detailing our experience with Discount heating, he threatened us.
When I attempted to call Doug on two more occasions, hoping to resolve our dispute, he refused to return my calls.
Does it make sense that Discount charges $665.00 to replace 2 elements and A&M charges $236 - No!
Am I satisfied with the service I received from Discount - No!
Did they honor their 100% satisfaction or money back guarantee - No!
Make up your own mind. Results speak for themselves in black and white.
i have both invoices and paid both by personal check .it is clear we got ripped off .you have been warned!
