Amvets always calls asking for donations. Finally we had something to give and my husband called them to schedule a pick up for some furniture. Two heavy couches and a wing back chair. They were old...they were worn...but they were not nasty dirty or structurally unsound. They did not tell us there were specific requirements for picking up furniture...like absolutely no stains or tears. (We did have a tear on the zippered cover of a cushion...not the cushion itself. and the couches and chair had a few stains that we probably could have gotten out had we known about the requirements) .
We hauled our heavy furniture outside (no easy feat for us) and when the truck finally showed up they refused it. So we had to haul it back in the garage where it sits. I called to complain about the lack of communication and I was hung up on. I called again and spoke to a manager who at least was gracious in her apology, but they will not pick these items up. So until we figure something else out, we're stuck with them. I do NOT appreciate being hung up on, and I don't appreciate not being told what to expect prior to the pick up. It would have saved us time and a couple of bruised shins and sore backs.
