I have lived in the country most of my life with the only place to go for tires was Les Schwaab. When I moved to Portland, I thought I would look for another shop to support and I became a loyal customer of Firestone. I bought a set of 4 tires some years back. I got a flat tire a couple of years later. I could see that the side wall was compromised so I understood the need for a new tire but they talked me into two new tires due to the amount of wear on the other tires and the damage that could happen from being out of balance.
I had a flat tire again this week. I could see that the puncture was in the tread not the sidewall. This time they said they didn't want to be responsible for me having a blowout with the sidewall compromised so a new tire was the only option. They wanted $167 for one tire! I needed a second opinion so I took the tire to Les Schwaab. They didn't see anything wrong with the sidewalls and they fixed it for $15 dollars.
I can no longer recommend Firestone to anyone, they use scare tactics to get you to spend unnecessary money.
