Trying to avoid a service provider in a monopoly is hard to do but if you have the means to avoid TIME WARNER do so at all costs*** If you enjoy paying for internet and cable and not receiving them on a week by week basis (not to mentions literally hours of your own time on the phone and taking off work to meet technicians at your home)- Time Warner is your company. As long as you don't have to have a land line you can avoid being screwed by one of the worst service providers I have ever had (I have lived in Missouri, Texas and several areas in Southern California and they are bar far the worst). My DVR is constantly recording grey screens and my internet is as reliable as dial up was a decade ago. The service techs are the only honest employees Time Warner has - several have explained to me that since TW went digital it does not have the infrastructure to handle the signal. So they send the techs out as a sign that they are working diligently but the techs say every time that they are assigned to check a list of items that are irrelevant to the problem...it's not the routers, converters, cable cards, or the wiring (though that is what they would like you to believe). It's Time Warner stealing your money and wasting your time. The technicians also told me that phone support can remotely fix the loss of connection but only 20% of them know how to do it and it is easier for them to send a technician out (and for you to miss work to be there). You have to haggle and argue to ""escalate"" your claim to varying levels of importance. Even if you reach a supervisor you will still likely be forced to set up a physical appointment at their convenience - I assume that this is how their inept employees get back at you for interrupting their ass sitting time. This is unacceptable and unethical...please try to avoid the inevitable frustration - if you have read this consider yourself warned. more
