Wedding Day Dissapointment 9/3/2011

After checking dozens of places in the area, we ultimately decided on this place for our wedding. The owner appeared to really want our business and promised us the world to get us to sign a contract. i was extremely dissapointed with my wedding event and here is why- PROMISES PROMISES- I wont get into the list of them but there were quite a few thrown around in the beginning.. from offering a formal tasting, special menu items. Showing up for scheduled appointments while they act as if they are surprised to see you.. making us wait over 45 minutes to ""find a place"" for us. Without 1 single apology for wasting our time... not to mention, we showed up for this tasting HUNGRY! SERVICE- Just terrible. The servers were not very friendly to our guests... since I was the bride , they came over to me a little too much to check in with me and insist that I eat... while the intentions were there, it was a bit too much and they would even interrupt conversations HIDDEN FEES- You need to carefully look at those contracts... You have tax, gratuity which is standard. But they nag you about that 5% Matre D fee that is slipped in there. Coming from the hotel industry myself, this is a very old fashioned way of doing business and is almost unheard of in the industry. They claim part of it goes to the cooks and Servers? Then what is the 20% Gratiuty for? Even when a Matre D fee was in ""style"", if the owner was the Matre D, then you would not need to provide it. ALSO, on a few occassions, there were a few ""mis calculations"" in their favor... again forgetting about their PROMISES on pricing. I wonder if they pushed for the Matre D fee to make up for the mistakes that were caught. FOOD- Delicious! Everyone raved about the food. I was able to taste the food and loved everything I had. BUFFET?- We asked for stations to be set up. I envisioned people walking around.. mingling while they got their food. Didnt happen. Plates were put only on 1 table in the ""begining"" of the line and essentially, what I got was a BUFFET! I did not want my guests standing in line for 45 minutes.. which really gave the party a lull... of course no one was dancing! TABLES- Lets just say, this is my mistake.. I should have asked them how they were going to fold the napkins. There are many classy folds that you can use and a quick breakfast restaurant triangle fold was such a let down to see. Most reputable hotels would cringe at the sight of the folded napkins. (and they did, since most of my guests where int he industry) For most people, this really went un-noticed. However, I assumed that they would just know. My bad. THANK YOU- You would think that a well established business would send a quick ""thank you for your business"" card. Again, an industry standard. Also, the owner told us he would be there for the wedding. His daughter ran it.. a little disappointing, just seemed as if they didnt care for our business. I think this place has amazing food. They are probably great for baby showers, retirement dinners and other social functions. However, I do not suggest trusting them with the best day of your life. more
