What an awkward shopping experience... As with any consignment shop, there is the inevitable hunt through dated clothing in order to find that gem you went in for. The problem here? No gems! When my friend and I walked in for our first (and only) time, we looked at the jewelry first, as it is right at the front of the store. While there were plenty of other shoppers, my friend and I were the only ""young"" (early-20's) ones - we were fine with that, but the clerks obviously weren't. Every rack I went to, the same lady was either right behind or next to me, fixing a shirt on its hanger or doing something else to make it look like she needed to be right there, practically on top of me. My friend and I had split up to look in different sections of the store, and when we met up again, she told me a different clerk had been hot on her trail as well - did we really look that suspicious?? Then: ""Are you going to buy that purse?"" one clerk asked my friend about an item she had been holding. ""I'm not sure yet,"" she responded. ""We can hold it for you."" ""Well I'm not sure if I want it yet,"" my friend repeated. ""You can decide at the checkout counter."" My friend awkwardly handed the bag to the clerk, sure now that she did not want to purchase it. I ended up leaving with only one item (don't worry, I paid for it): a pin that looked like it was made at summer camp - it was so ugly, I couldn't pass it up (even for $2). All in all, this place has some interesting stuff, but it's mostly an over-rated, older-audience Plato's Closet. more
